Doctors don't tell you this about meds

All medications have side effects, whether we acknowledge them or not. unfortunately, one of the most powerful side effects of any medications is how they can disempower patients from making the deeper changes to lifestyle and habits that are responsible for, probably, most diseases! every choice we make around putting something in our body has consequences that might take away our self-efficacy and motivation to address the real barriers to our self healing

this is why my doc taught me about nutrition and helped me come up with a healthier eating plan specific to my work and circadian rhythm. he also gave me a high five when I got my first stripe in Brazillian Jiujitsu which is great exercise. it's super important for them to know about us as people in order to help us the best.

Dr. Kaveh, Always making me smile bc there are actual physicians who care and do not subscribe to everything they were trained to say in medical school. A true leader. God Speed and Good Health to Dr. Kaveh.

It’s your job to tell your patience everything if you’re not telling them everything and you’re liable

Yup. My new psychiatrist knew i had AHDH and threw me onto Adderall. Instant release and "sustained?" release. Me knowing nothing about it, now regret ever being put onto it. I definitely could have lived without it. Now its going to be hell to get off of I'm assuming after some research.

They didn’t tell me that I would have cervical dystonia from a nausea medication that I knew nothing about. I take each day at a time and realize that I’m still very blessed and it could’ve been much worse.

In medication as in everything in life, you have to weigh the benefit against the harm. If the harm out weighs the benefit then it is kicked out logically.

I had more problems with pain killers, after surgery, than recovery. I quit taking them as soon as I realized the repercussions.

Sadly my father's doctor put in a pacemaker for a condition that should never be treated that way.

My GP got me off most of the medication asap. He said he didn’t want me taking all the medication for a long period of time as these could have side effects which will probably need different medication to counteract these effects, but bc I just had heart surgery I should take them for now but they’ll slowly take each one away when I no longer need them. It only took 3 months

Yep. Less money for them if something is actually cured. Disgusting!

Gabapentin, Wellbutrin, IBU'S and Pepcid are a couple of medications that have very serious side effects, yet when brought up with my doctor I was told to see if I can work through them😮. They either dont know or don't want to talk about them. I feel like it takes up too much of their time and you are shown the door. I've lost my neurologist who was fantastic and took the time to answer my questions. He was fired as he actually prescribed pain medication to patients like me with multiple chronic pain conditions. Then I was taken off pain medication and put on 800mgs IBU'S 3-4 times a day. I'm no longer allowed to be seen by my rheumatologist because osteoarthritis is not their focus and only want to see people with other serious types of arthritis. 😢 My spine has been fused, 3 metatarsals in both feet have fused and multiple toes fused, both knees replaced, degenerative disc disease in vertebrae above the spinal fusion, arthritis in my neck and both SI joints. Pain managment doctor does nothing to help and referes you back to your primary that then refers you back to PM doctor. NOBODY WANT'S TO HELP and I feel like I've been kicked to the curb. Sorry, rant over.

I think that lots of diseases are a latent effect that take many years to fester. Pub med hasn't been around that long doing clinical trials or research.🎯
