I've known about many of these famous & infamous mythic beasts, but, I never heard the term cryptid until a few months ago. How crazy.

I think one reason why people are so quick to want to add recently extinct animals to cryptozoology is because it gives a bit more weight to the speculative study. Those animals, that were proven to exist, as lumped into the and wild critters that populate the cryptid lists.

And the Fearsome Critters sort of reminds me of the second episode of Doug way back in the 90's on Nickelodeon. The Bully Roger is trying to convince Doug to capture the Neematoad so the town thinks that he is a hero.

I love cryptozoology, not because I like normal zoology, but because in my mind I treat them like Pokemons and fantasize about them beating the ever-loving shit out of each other. My old elementary school notebook is filled with Bigfoot swinging Nessie from the neck like it's a ball and chain.

People have cameras on their smartphone for 20 years, now we have CCTV, dashcams and deercams everywhere. If they were Bigfoot or something we would have perfect pictures/videos of it by now.
