There are many examples throughout the Old Testament of God using or allowing wicked people to punish the Israelites when he deemed it necessary.

“Thorn in the flesh” is a term used in the Old Testament which usually referred to a foreigner who wasn’t removed from the land and the consequences of letting them sit around would pop up later and become a thorn in the flesh or a thorn in the side to the Hebrew people. They would basically be a nuisance to the Hebrew people and always make their work harder and harder.

Based on that context Paul is not referencing a spiritual demonic oppression or attack he is most likely talking about a group of people who would show up at churches shortly after he had planted and left to start another one and they would sow seeds of discord and question Paul’s authority and credibility. If you read 2 Corinthians he spends a good chunk of that book trying to defend his reputation against those who come against him.

This in no way detracts from the main point in that because of these anti Paul Christians blaspheming Paul’s ministry he was forced to write a bunch of letters and you will see him coming against these people who oppose him in many of his letters. Because of St Paul’s “thorn” not only was he never exalted in his time to where his pride took over his ministry but we are now blessed with an abundance of his beautiful writings. God took what the enemy wanted for evil and in His providence and wisdom used it for our good and Paul accepted his suffering, bore his cross, and imitated Christ amongst the trial and tribulation. So amazing

This is not Non-Duality, it is a Buddhist term and used in Hinduism, it says something about the nature of reality more to the likes that "everything is one" and the seeing of voidness of things. That seems not the to be the same as the Christian notion "shall prove but mine instrument" which you seem to discuss here. The Buddhist term and use of Non-duality seems to lead to moral-relativism, and generally bad things, not leading to God.

There are many layers to reality if your focus is it as a vehicle for truth.
There is a layer or level where the soul to soul dialogue is beyond the earthly interpretation with the everyday sensing of time and physicality.
I know this because of the abuse I have suffered. And a realm that has no words and whose justice u only catch glimpses of. We do not know what victory looks like truly.

In Zen, we'd say that everything is helping you wake up. It's a very similar sentiment.

4:36 how do we reconcile that with what and how does Christ show us to reconcile it?

By not resisting evil and submitting to death? Surely that's not true at the personal level with regards to resisting temptation

I walked home from work today and saw an old man with a large black dog sitting outside a pub. The old man was smoking and enjoying a pint and the dog lay at his feet with its tail swaying back and forth. I found something beautiful about it and as I walked I thought about the bond between these two and how each relied on the other and it wasn’t clear to me who needed who more. I walked some more and as always unlike when I was a child and could keep an observation simply beautiful and that’s the way it would stay my mind corrupts everything. I thought that no matter how much that dog loved that man, that if that man had spiked his blood alcohol level one too many times tonight and he died of a heart attack and nobody came to check on him for a while. I don’t think it would be too long until the hand that fed became the hand that is fed upon. I don’t like where my thoughts take me.

The Law of One talks about service to self (vs service to others), throughout densities of consciousness. Demons by any other name. According to this view, all is one in all that is, or creation manifested.

Demons are the left hand of God, and other surprising Orthodox views.

The discussion of the right hand and the left hand is where the intersection of Jonathan’s ideas occur with Iain McGilchrist and Jordan Peterson. McGilchrist talks about the two hemispheres of the human brain, the right hemisphere controlling the left hand and left hemisphere controlling the right hand. Both hemispheres are necessary for balance in our thinking and action. When the left hemisphere tries to take control and be the master, we get atomization and ultimate disintegration. Satan was an angel but when he decided he wanted to be the master, that’s when he fell catastrophically. The role of the right hemisphere of the brain is to perceive what comes to it from the outside and to pass that on to the left hemisphere for processing and structuring. Take note, the left hemisphere can only work on what it has been given by the right hemisphere. The left hemisphere has no access to the outside world. So, when the left hemisphere has done its work, it is essential that it passes it back to the right hemisphere so that they can be united and learn and work together. The right hemisphere, in my thinking, seems closer to the eternal feminine and the left hemisphere to the eternal masculine.
Jordan Peterson talks extensively about the role of the anomaly (chapter 4 Maps of Meaning) in gaining wisdom, competence and meaning. The anomaly is that which we must overcome and it is the anomaly that drives us to seek God‘s wisdom and his care so that when we fall into chaos, we can see the treasures there and learn gratitude and humility. If McGilchrist’s theories are correct, the right hemisphere is the only access we have to perceiving the anomalies, the left hemisphere is our engine for dissecting the anomaly and then the right hemisphere must also be engaged to seek God’s mind on how both hemispheres together can solve the problem and learn from it with God’s help.

Aside from the fact there is no such thing as demons, that was a word salad.

Christianity IS a real non-dual religion, Jonathan?

Sharki
Автор

How can Christianity be non-dual when it teaches that man can be separate from God? The incarnation and theosis are all about reuniting separated God and man. Unfortunately, these two models of salvation within orthodoxy are not even coherent. The incarnation results in real, ontological union with God. Theosis results in pseudo, energetic union with God. Both models are based on separation (i.e., dualism). If Christianity was non-dual it would teach that there never was, isn’t, and could never be any separation between God and man (or anything that is).

The problem which Jonathan (I mean this respectfully), is that these sorts of takes, while interesting, really make Christianity sound not that different in any meaningful way from Buddhism or Hinduism. Orthodoxy has theosis, which is that we can become God, essentially, and Hinduism just has a minor tweak on that which is that we already are God but have to see thru the delusion to realize it.

If the views presented on this channel are an accurate representation of Orthodoxy then increasingly it makes me the case that it doesn't matter what religion you are (and besides, if you do it wrong and pick the wrong religion then you're cooperating with demons, but that's okay because that's only God's left hand anyway.)
