The reasson doflamingo never had any of his crew eat the fruit is probably because the fruit was going to be given to kaido (diamante says the fruit was never meant to be eaten by anyone), this is the most likely scenario as kaido knew who ace was and would want the fruit for his crew. also lets not forget that BLACKBEARD is devil fruit haunting and was very fond of ace, if doflamingo were to give the fruit to one of his crew then hed be making himself a target of blackbeard and posibly anger kaido as well, lets not forget that MARCO and the WB pirates would also be chasing mingo down for that, inluding sabo and luffy and thats not something Mingo can deal with.
