Windows Vista was an interesting time period for Microsoft. It went through six years of interesting development, and it ended up with a bad reputation. Why did Vista end up with the reputation that it has?

windows vista looks amazing even in 2021, i like how windows 10 has embraced the dark taskbar from vista and aero animation, wish windows 10 had much more transparent effect around the os

I used Vista for years and I had no issues, it was a great time for me, also Vista just looks amazing compare to Windows 8 and 10.

As someone who used Windows 95/98/98SE/XP/Vista/7/8 & 8.1/10,
I found vista fantastic. I was always very technically inclined, and Vista really wasn't that hard to use imo.
It also had some wonderful features that I loved even on a slow PC, like LIVE backrounds natively support for free.
That feature was such a shock to my system. I hadn't really saw anything so "future" feeling out of the many OS's I tried at the time. I loved it.
It also worked fine for most things if you didn't have the bare minimum specs. A lot of people didn't want to buy a new PC, but expected
old and already 5 year old out of date hardware to run this new beautiful thing perfectly. Simply have 2gb of ram total allowed you have a very fluid experience.
I would also say, Microsoft was very quick to update many things. The major service packs took a big longer, but micro updates kept it quickly running very well.
It also was better for gaming, regardless of what people said about it. If you had an up-to-date system, which most PC gamers usually kept up with,
it worked very very well. Similar to why for a long time and even now people talk about how fantastic Win7 was for gaming.

TL;DR I loved it.

Windows 7 was pretty much the perfected version of Vista. Out of every Windows I've used, XP and 7 were my most favorite ones. Vista was ok, 8 was disastrous, and 10 has it's fair share of bugs and unwanted software. I know a family member who still uses Vista, and it's SP3. Works well, but they only use it to store family pictures and stuff.

There was never any official SP3 for Vista. That said, I had very few if any complaints about Vista after SP2. It even ran fine on my 2007 HP laptop that had only 1GB RAM. Windows 7 was definitely a much better upgrade, though.

Whats funny is vista was quite literally meant to be a stepping stone to windows 7. My fam used to have a pc with windows vista on it, it wasnmt generally unstable or slow or anything so idk

Personally, I think it's crazy that Windows 7 is essentially the same under the hood as Windows Vista

Windows Vista is my favorite and it is literally the only one that focuses on the vision for when it was known as 'Longhorn'. There will never be another operating system so major, so revolutionary as Windows Vista.

I liked Windows Vista, despite the history of the operating system.

Windows Vista Aero theme is the best of all time, even though Windows 7 is the same, Vista had the edge for me personally with the black tone scheme over the silver gray color scheme of Windows 7.

At 4:35 the Windows Vista Aero changed to Windows Vista Basic.

I actually used Vista ON MY HARD DRIVE IN 2020 once, and it was really stable. I got DRIVERS for the OS too!

I never had problems with windows vista. I remember in high school we had just upgraded to vista not sure if it was pre-/post update but I liked it never experienced any issues.

I feel so challenged using Windows 10, every other time I want to use my laptop I have to update it. 40% of the time I use my laptop its updating

Vista was unusable for me until SP2, and by then I was completely fed up with it. I jumped onto 7 the first moment I could and never looked back. I would still run 7 today if I safely could.

vista was ahead of its time, the computers at that time could not handle the operating system therefore the operating system was completely unstable. this operating system can work pretty fine on present day computers

I had Vista pre-installed on my old (2007) Asus laptop. I loved Vista, had no problems with it, and the startup sound is very nostalgic for me.

My first computer was a laptop, it introduced me to Windows vista I never had any issues with vista.
Then again the laptop was a power house at the time with 4gb of vram and a core 2 quad.
