The Saints are an Australian rock band, which formed in Brisbane in 1974, founded by Chris Bailey (singer-songwriter, later guitarist), Ivor Hay (drummer), and Ed Kuepper (guitarist-songwriter). Alongside mainstay Bailey, the group has had numerous line-ups. In 1975, contemporaneous with United States' Ramones, The Saints were employing the fast tempos, raucous vocals and "buzz saw" guitar that characterised early punk rock. With their debut single, "(I'm) Stranded", in September 1976, they became the first punk band outside the US to release a record, ahead of better-known acts including the Sex Pistols and The Clash. They are one of the first and most influential groups of the genre, according to Bob Geldof, "Rock music in the seventies was changed by three bands—the Sex Pistols, the Ramones and The Saints".

Why mock Bruce Springsteen for covering the song. Good on him for showing an appreciation of a great Australian song. I am sure Chris Bailey is very appreciative of the attention and royalties coming his way,

Worked in Richlands a few years back. Drove past the old Richlands primary school which was closed up. Just wondered if this was theirs back in the day. Being a big saints fan always had their songs in my head. Happy times...

My home growing up was in Inala and Chris Bailey made the music film clip with his band in places such as Coconut Grove, Progress Road and Stucco Homes and people of Inala. He was cool!.

Gord I luv this song. It kicks ass cranked up. Known it since it was new. Im sure there was an earlier different version but maybe I haven't been trying very hard to find it. I miss that man and his talent and good artists like him. Chrissy Amphlet, Michael Hutchence....(heavy sigh)

What a great song! I like Springsteen and thank the dude for opening me to this band! What a cool band.

Fuckin Bruce, man. Gets stereotyped as a cliche rock star, this dude listens to some random shit and pays tribute to it. Punk, new wave, rock n roll; guy just loves music lol.

Cheers from Chicago!

Nice of "The Boss" to include it in his concert though. And I mean that, cause I think it introduced The Saints to a whole new generation that even in Brisbane would never have heard of them.

Great ending to this song, crying out for some deejay on an Indie radio station to "back announce" and say a few words about the last couple of bands that got played! :)

I am a Springsteen fan, but the original is better. The singer is so authentic Australian.
