Sir your way of teaching is amazing! Love from Pakistan 🌹🌹🌹🌹

Before watching: I derived a formular for h: h=40*tan 15*tan 25 / (tan 25 - tan 15)
Using a calculator this results in 25, 19615.
After watching: 😎 My result seems to be even more accurate, since I left the calculator for the very end and thus did not have any rounding effects distort the result…

The generalized formula of this allows one to find the height if buildings using the angles of elevation from 2 external observation points and the distance between them.

another solution:
* applying Law of Sines to triangle ABD: length BD = 40 * sin 15 / sin 10
* applying Law of Sines to triangle BCD: h = (40 * sin 15 * sin 25 ) / sin 10 ~= 25.2

I love this channel ♥

I solved this question by using the Law of Sine and got the same answer.

You may say h is ABOUT 25, 21 units! You calculate tan(15°)=0, 268 and tan(25°)=0, 4663 introducing some aproximation!

Rush the problem first, but realize it is easy using ASA
and 15 degrees, 40 units, and 155 degrees produced length of 59.169 for length DB, then
25 degrees, 59.169 units, and 65 degrees produced a length of 25.198 Answer ( and 54.033 and 59.169)

There’s no way anyone actually understands what happened here

Use sign law to find DB then sin of 25 to get CB. I got 25.12. Guess the calculator trig rounding results in the discrepancy.

Very useful problem to know how to solve. I bet surveyors do this all the time to calculate elevations.

Use a formula: ((distance x tan(angle 1) x tan(angle 2))/(tan(angle 2 ) - tan(angle 1))
(40 x tan(15) x tan(25))/(tan(25) - tan(15)) = 25.19, rounded to 25.2 units.

The interesting thing is that the muslim scientist Albayruni used the formula to calculate the diameter of the earth

How I can find the value of tan 15 and 25 in mind.?

40 = AC - DC
40/h = AC/h - DC/h = cot 15 - cot 25
h = 40 / (cot 15 - cot 25) = 25.196

In school we were told that they used similar method to determine the height of the mount Everest.
