I REALLY like this short video, but wish she had mentioned best lube to use, if wax, teflon, oil, etc.. I am about to change from finish line dry, to Squirt wax lube, seems like a great idea to not use degreasers again with that product. Would love to know her input on which lube for chain is best overall, I ride a Specialized Tarmac, and love Specialized products, bikes... I just need to know a tad more on the world of chain lubes, for Specialized bikes :-) thx so much, and safe riding!

If you're riding a bike in a spring or summer nice weather you don't have to put the loop on every time to ride if it's nice weather

The word 'LUBE" was used 160 times in this video.

I know it's a years old, but coming from one of the biggest bike manufactures, that's very unnefficient, doesn't clean at all and will prematurely wear your chain out. No the parktool isn't the best option, tho a lot better. The grit between the rollers remains and grinds everything down. The outside of the chain can be quite dirty but the inside has to clean. I use the friction facts wax formula plis some paragin oil. Chains seem to not really wear down

I've seen perfectionists apply a small drop on each roller, rather than dragging lube all over the place. Definitely the method for only nutjobs, but excess lube is a pain, and wasteful.

This vid would have been more informative if they mentioned about de-greasing the the chain first before applying lube. Also, there's no need to lube before every ride. Most people aren't professional or competitive cyclists so lubing before every ride will be a waste of lube.

My lube is quite thick, so it's not so easy to apply it to the chain. Any tips on that?

No degreaser first?

btw is't it cheaper to replace the chain when it is done instead of lubing the chain before EVERY ride as recommended in the video

Yea good luck getting dirt out of your chain with this technique. Not gona happen.

This only works if you bike indoors on a taxc lol.

Outside you will have to clean use a chain cleaner tool + degreaser and do a few more steps on the way.

Example.

1) water spray it
2) clean it with cloth
3) degrease + chain cleaner tool
4) water spray it
5) clean it with cloth
6) oil it
7) clean left over oil on the chain with a piece of cloth.

Good luck getting all that cooked up dirt in the middle chains cleaned with this video technique never gona ever happen.

Bike lube: one of the biggest voodoo subjects about bikes.  Seems like everyone has their favorite lube and all other products stink.  Wet lube, dry lube, synthetic, bees wax, on and on.  And it seems like terrain and locale make no difference to some devotees of a particular lube.  Many bike product manufacturers make chain cleaning machines, but then KMC Chain says "NEVER EVER use a so-called ‘chain washing machine’ in combination with solvent. This is the one and only sure way to instantly ruin your chain."  Instantly - wow.

Last time, I didn't rub off the extra and had my chain covered with dust even after a road ride.
