Phillip, I've never seen a live feed/show handled so well. Your passion for what you do is capital. Agreed, push push pots are more fun lol

Hey Phil - love your Friday shows. The fender Yosemite is pronounced Yo-sem-it-tee like the national park.

A good "Scotchbrite" pad will be a good alternative to steel wool, if taping the pups is too much for a person to do. Can get them from a grocery store, but you can also check out an auto-body supply store for other alternatives/brands that might have finer or coarser grits for your needs. Great for removing finishes too if refinishing a guitar. Sand paper, no matter how fine or course, tend to "gunk up" and in the time it takes to do the job with all the paper needed for this reason, a scotchbrite pad or the likes will be much more efficient until the bare wood or primer is visible. THEN switch to a very fine grit paper to avoid the need for as much finish materials.

Phil I bought the Marshall SV 20/5 plexi head...and although it is loud I run it thru a radial headload attenuator when jamming at home and it is the best tone I have ever heard...it sounds best at 20 watts with the Headload set at 50%...but still sounds fine in the 5 watt mode at 50%..just a note...I have had the Silver Jubilee and I currently have the Origin 20 head...also have a 50 watt Marshall British made and the plexi is my favorite...I play it mostly thru a 212 cab with V30s...thx...love ur show!

Sure. Do the guitar crate thing. I might be someone who might buy it through your channel. Thanks for the Q and A and have a great Easter weekend.

Just want to say that one thing I appreciate about you is your humility.

Thanks Phillip for all you do on these shows. I had an issue with my Fender 2000 Fat Strat Texas Special I just was afraid of messing it up. After watching quite a few of your videos I finally took the time and took it apart. found that I had 2 stripped neck screws and the the neck wasn't tight in the body. Once I filled the holes and lined it up and got it to tighten up it sounded better then ever. Thanks again Phillip !

Two weeks ago I ordered a pair of unoriented alnico 5 bar magnets to try swapping out the ceramic magnets in a LTD Viper 100FM. Cost was a little under $10 and what I learned was worth a lot more than $10. Also, I rarely played that guitar but after swapping the magnets I've been playing it every day....Love it!

I put locking tuners on all my floyd rose locking nut guitars. I've never had an issue. I like them because it makes changing strings so much easier and quicker. I use PlantWave Locking Auto Trim tuners. So I say - go for it.

Lower price Gibson’s can be amazing. I would own a studio for example over any epiphone, and I have nothing against epi’s. I looked at recently buying an epi pro plus 2 and couldn’t get it to sound close to what a Gibson sounds like in the shop. I have a 1996 Jimmy Page epi that looks great but doesn’t come close to my Gibson’s. My 2018 Gibson tribute on the other hand sounds just as good as my 2004 Gibson les Paul standard. I think Gibson have really closed the gap with their cheaper and standard guitars. Where epiphone excel are with their hollow body guitars which seem to be on par with Gibson. When it comes to les Paul’s however, in my opinion their is a big jump in sound difference between Gibson and Epiphone. I think this may have something to do with the thick maple cap on Gibson’s compared to the thin veneer cap epi’s use but I am not sure.

Bronze wool is kind of spendy but it doesn't rust or go to the magnets. YMMV

I recently bought an Epiphone JB 355, i was tempted by Gibsons and PRS but for the sum of it's parts and overall quality i went for the 355.

Matt Bellamy plays Manson guitars, which cost a bomb as a British small luthier shop handcrafts the guitars.
Cort has a line of signature guitars with them, where the shape and basic pickups are similar, but doesn't have all the crazy extra doodads loaded.
By the way, having tried one second hand, that Cort guitar is really one of those who got away for me

I've got an Epiphone Les Paul custom black beauty 3 with slash sig pickups that I had put in it and I would be surprised if you could play me a better sounding guitar.

I have a black 1989 Epiphone Les Paul Custom made in Korea by Samick with the original tapered open book headstock. I installed a Duncan JB/Jazz set in it. Stock bridge, keys, nut and tuners. Replaced the pots and switch. It plays and sounds just a good as any of the Gibsons that I have owned over the years and I have owned many. A PRS S2 Custom 22 semi hollow shot it out of the saddle as my daily player but it's still just as good as any Gibson I have played for a fraction of the price. Those first year Epiphone Les Paul Customs are outstanding.

I can't seem to find one Player's series Fender guitar that doesn't have super sharp fret ends and horrible fret job. Heavy as well and not a huge fan of the pups..found myself a Contemporary Tele HH and the fret work is amazing, and I actually like the pups more. Also saved myself 400$

My debate is the Gibson les paul jr double cut "tribute".. that guitar is amazing all around. Feels, sound and looks awesome. All for $799 or I got a new one off reverb for $715 shipped to my door.
