Unfortunately, you cannot enter this mission solo. You can unlock it, but after that it requires another person in your fireteam to actually do the mission. They must have also done the unlock. Once unlocked, you don't need to do all of these steps again, and you can launch it from the map. You also cannot do it with 3 people, it must be 2.

Video is longer than I'd normally like, but people have complained anytime I speed up or skip the paths to things. So here's the full path for each of them, along with the map locations, so it should hopefully cater to everyone.

edit: Supposedly you need to have completed all 3 Overthrows at least once before the wizards will spawn, so give that a try. Thanks to @TheRealGutty for this suggestion, it seems to have helped.

A lot of reports from people saying the Wizards aren't spawning for them. Are you seeing the text at the bottom right "A Secret-Keeper of the Witch Queen is near..." after defeating the final boss? If so, there's a chance that maybe it appears in different locations on the map, so search around the area. I checked with a lot of other people and all of them appeared in the same 3 locations I showed in the video, but maybe it's just a coincidence. Other than that, maybe there's another per-requisite for it that's tied to post campaign quests or progression.

Thank you for making this guide. I knew I should have waited for yours to come out. I heard some rumors online that you had to do all three overthrows. I did all that and then nothing spawned at the end of the landing, which was my last one. So I returned to orbit and then 5 minutes later I saw this video. Although I wouldn't have been able to start the Exotic Quest at least I would have been able to unlock it.

Thanks for the exotic mission unlock guide, think gonna pass this one. Not only it is "forced" duo fireteam to complete it and the exotic mission itself is taking long time to complete it. Plus, there is a good chance you will get booted by the host before you can get the exotic, Bungie should disable the boot fireteam members option during final moments/encounter finished. Just gonna wait if they released another exotic class item that is "solo" farmable in the future

As much as I love secret exotic missions, I feel like something like the exotic class items should have had more direction and instruction with how crazy they are and how important they are in the marketing.

My issue isn't the forced team aspect but that I can only do it in as a duo and can't do it with my full fireteam of three.

Great video as always. Does this have to be done at the same play session or can you kill the wizards over a few days and then go dunk the orbs?

this whole thing has to be bugged. I killed all 3 wizards, went to the refraction and there was nothing there for me to kill for the orbs

The issue isnt the mission, its the fact that they locked exotic class items behind this mission. Which were a major part of the marketing, thats where bungie messed up and why people are upset
