Former Secret Service agent Tim McCarthy talks about security surrounding Trump assassination attemp

Retired Orland Park Police Chief Tim McCarthy took a bullet in 1981 while working as a Secret Service agent during the assassination attempt of then-President Ronald Reagan. McCarthy joined WGN to discuss the security response to Sunday's assassination of former President Donald Trump. In spite of everything that this man has said, a 20-year-old managed to outsmart the Secret Service and get on a roof. I am told 150 yards away from where the former president was speaking. I’m also being told that it was a Blindspot of the Secret Service if you can believe anything like that could be allowed. There aren’t very many buildings in that area and every one of them should’ve had a Secret Service/law enforcement person on the roof, but no, it was probably too hot. I’m not surprised if something like this has happened. There have been plenty of people in politics that have said things that were inflammatory towards Donald Trump or anyone who didn’t agree with their political beliefs. Remember what Obama said we brought a gun to a knife fight. In my opinion, no one would admit to their neighbors that they work for the Secret Service/FBI/CIA/DOJ or ATF because they don’t want to be ostracized from the community because none of them were trusted any longer.

The two women looked more like ex per mar guards. One was having issues with her gun in the holster.

See this is the guy you need as a Secret Service Agent on a protective detail. Big water buffalo from Chicago. Guy was a walk-on strong safety for the Illini.

Those small women, even if they were high speed ninja spec ops savages, willing to die to fulfill their duty (they most assuredly were not- they were running around like chickens with their heads cut off and one was ducking down behind Trump in one shot) they ARE NOT BIG ENOUGH. Most MEN aren't big enough. Trump is 6'2. His detail should be gigantic dudes.

Oh, young man- your dream is to be in the Secret Service? I see. Want to be on the protective detail? Proven bravery in combat? Highly trained? Sounds great. Oh, you're 5'7 165? Sorry, try HRT or something with the FBI.
