This is the best version of CN for me. Out of this world

In 1952, Leo Fender created the Stratocaster. Six years earlier, God created David Gilmour so he could show the world how to play it.

The difference between this and Pulse: Gilmour didn't yet know he was recording the most iconic guitar solo of all time.

This solo should be the message we send to possible intelligent life in outer space.

Best comfortably numb solo he’s ever done!

That transition David does at 8:45 might be the greatest thing ever

I was at this show. it was the only time that I got to Pink Floyd. Absolutely blew me away. when they played this song there were a lot of people around me that were teared and during Gilmores epic solo I was teared up with them. It was so moving. I shall never forget that experience.

God played the guitar and asked "David, how do you like this?"

David: "Let me show you something"

All these years later I hear this song and still can't believe I was at one of the Long Island shows in August 1988

Romantic climatic 80's delay effect sound of Gilmour's guitar makes this solo best version!

The second solo is the greatest thing ever in the history of music.

Thank you God to give us David Gilmour.

Of all the versions of the outro solo out there, this one takes the cake for me.

Every time I listen to the DSOT version I think it's the definitive version that cannot be beaten. Then I listen to versions from The Wall live shows, Pulse, Pompeii etc and in the moment think exactly the same thing. Each time it's played live, Dave brings something different to it, however indefinable it is. Granted, I think this still tops them all in the cool light of day, but who listens to music in the cool light of day? The greatest song ever.

Played this all the time while I was a Marine during Desert Shied/Storm. Will always have a special place in my heart. Thank you..

Widely considered the greatest guitar solo in rock history and it isn't even close, no one and I mean no one can ever match David Gilmour the man is magic. There are shredders and there are guitar Gods and he is the God of ALL guitar Gods, Shredders can't play with this kind of clarity because they do not have the discipline required to play with the pure emotion David plays with, there are a lot of great guitarists and then there is David Gilmour!

If/when aliens come to earth and ask us to give them one reason they should spare humanity, play them this song.
