imagine being able to say "my job is to tickle puppies feet, flip em around, and then put em on a damp towel"

I too would be mildly stressed by being held vertical

Please give that pup a kiss after having it go thru all of the stress.

"PUT THAT BEAST IN A SITUATION"

And so it was, the beast had survived the situation.

And here I thought when he put the puppy in the glass tray he would say "and next we're gonna bake the puppy at 300 degrees F..."

My dog fell asleep in my lap the day I got her, and while she was young I handled her a lot in all different orientations. Now she's chill with being held in every way you can think of, and even knows how to be a scarf!

My dad was a veterinarian. He never trained pups for your type purposes, but he was always concerned about a dog or cat being safe for small kids. Children must be taught to be safe and kind, but kids are kids. Dad would carry pups and kittens around in his big hand. He would move them as he walked, turn them around and upside down. Gentle tugs on tails and ears. Nothing done harshly, just a variety of handling. They always were patient and safe around small kids.

I saw a video once were a dog trainer was taking days old puppies dunking them in cold water and squirting mustard in their mouths for desensitization. The animals seems extremely distressed. I replied that this seemed a bit extreme and harsh. I got absolutely destroyed in the comment section by his fans who said I was a terrible dog owner and didn't understand anything about raising animals.

Im glad that the guy in this video seems to understand that you don't need to traumatize the pups to desensitize them.

Fun fact, this works on human babies as well. The more stimuli they are exposed to (Safely of course, and with advice from their doctor) the better they will be at adapting to changes, both internally and externally. Another important tip is to toss the kiddo around on a bed or soft surface once they're a few years old, it drastically enhances their equilibrium. If you know some people who are just a Grade A Clutz, chances are their parents never threw them in the air and stuff as a baby or child.

I love how you're just mildly annoying a 3 day old puppy amd it's genuinely important and good for him to just get on his nerves a lil

My mom is a dog breeder/trainer and did this for every puppy. She also trained the mothers to move around so the babies have to start walking to get their food.
