Coblation Turbinate Reduction to Treat Nasal Obstruction

Nasal obstruction is a very common complaint for many individuals presenting to a doctor’s office. Such patients often find themselves mouth-breathing. Normally, the nasal passages should be widely patent allowing for easy nasal airflow. Although there are many different reasons for nasal obstruction whether due to allergies or a deviated septum, large inferior turbinates or turbinate hypertrophy is a very common cause of nasal blockage. Turbinate hypertrophy can vary in severity leading to partial or even complete nasal obstruction if they become very enlarged. Should medical management not sufficiently resolve turbinate hypertrophy, the overall size can be decreased with surgical intervention. Demonstrated here is a technique known as coblation which can reduce the size of the turbinates in a minimally invasive manner.

Thank you for staying the most important complication!
I had a nose job my turbinates were outfractured causing this
Doctors need to be more careful.
I now have to wear something in my nose %99 of the time because I have nasal valve collapse.
I have bones digging into my valve, no cartilage support ect,
And can’t live a normal life now.

Getting the ENS better was a feat and ill forever have PTSD & health issues from it but I really want to fix the collapse for my health as well and overall well being but am so afraid bc of that.

I say fix the sinus issues naturally by any means. Sinuses are naturally supposed to function properly, do not interfere with the turbinates unless it’s for a damn good reason.

There seems to be so much negativity in this thread. I got my turbs reduced during my septoplasty. Life changing for the better. No allergies, can breathe great, working out is easier. Yes there are some cases of failure. But the vast vast majority are successful. It's the same with with literally any medical process. It'll never be 100%. But it'll be close.

Is Balloon Dilation an option? Probably would be 10000x more safer than to risk getting ens from removing turbinate tissue

Very sorry to hear about your issues, my ent surgeon wants to carry out outfracture on my nose but it sounds risky? Is this what caused your nasal valve collapse?

With all due respect, does coblation redirect the air to run along the bottom of the nasal cavity?

This did not work for me. Actually it made my nasal obstruction worse because I didn’t know I was supposed to avoid certain foods that aren’t mucus producing.

Does this remove any mucosa and/or submucosa of the nose?

What is the recovery time frame for this? I had balloon sinuplasty with turbinate reduction two days ago and I cannot breathe out of my nose.
