360Hz OLED King - Gigabyte FO27Q3 1440p Monitor Review
Gigabyte just released their new 1440p 360Hz QD OLED gaming monitor, and the performance is incredible. This monitor is so fast, that LCD has been made entirely obsolete. Not only that, but the contrast afforded by QD OLED and HDR allows it to be used for single player games as well.

Apparently the black screen when alt-tabbing is an Nvidia driver issue with DSC, the only ways to fix it are, selecting an older DP or HDMI version in the monitor settings to one that doesn't support dsc, but this lowers maximum Hz or using an AMD GPU which does not have this issue, or lastly if you have an option to turn off DSC in the monitor, do it, because Nvidia doesn't let you.

This issue happens on most high refresh rate monitors with DSC, some brands like MSI MPG have pushes updates letting you disable DSC, which not only fixes the black screen, but also lets your use nvidia upscaling in settings which doesn't work with DSC, but fans are left begging for Gigabyte to do the same. ironically the 240hz FO27Q2 doesn't have this issue because both DP and HDMI support over 240hz in HDMI, HDMI 2.1 should support over 360hz without DSC @48gbps, so not sure why DSC is used in HDMI 2.1.

There's nothing else you can do to fix this, even if you set the FO27Q3 (360hz) to 240hz it will still use DSC, even 1080p 60hz will probably be using DSC.

Thanks for the ICC profile, I saw the white color as very warm from the factory, after applying the profile I now see it perfect :), the monitor is truly amazing, I recommend it to everyone

the black screen while alt tabbing is not only on this oled. lots of non oled monitors have that issue. you jsut need to tweak some settings in nvida control panel

So is this the number 1 OLED monitor to get? If not, then what are the top 3 at the moment?

Why didn't this one make your favorite HDR list? Just curious since I see the 32' 4k version did.

Your affiliate link is from Newegg and it is out of stock with ETA of 4/30/2024. 😞... but otherwise cool review/monitor.

I'm guessing you can actually update the firmware on this thing?

Can I use the calibration setting of your patreon page for the FO27Q2 ? Is it the same panel ?

Apparently the "tactical switch" on these new Gigabyte OLED monitors can be remapped to other functions like manual pixel cleaning. Can you give us a full list of the remapping options? I've barely seen anyone talk about it, even on reddit.

When is the 480Hz 1440p coming? And will it have DP 2.1?

As someone who has owned a monitor with one of these samsung panels. Text clarity is fine and much better than WOLED, the raised black levels really arent a problem at all, Im using a WOLED right now with matte coating and its the same. Also the black screen issue is cuased by DSC. surprised he doesnt know this, it could potentially be fixed by nvidia witha driver update since AMD doesnt have this issue, but the easiest fix is to put all your games in windowed fullscreen anyway, and DX12 this is the default behavior

This review sounds identical to the alienware 360 oled review. Seems like the exact same panel with a different brand slapped on the front. Not taking away from the greatness of the product though

This is on offer for £600 is it worth it for fast paced fps games? I never use HDR so i’m not worried about that

Is this considered the best 27" OLED for PS5 atm? Not interested in 32" monitors or TVs. Thanks

I'm so close to pulling the trigger on this exact monitor. I'm craving the pixel response times of oled. However, I'm rocking an acer predator that was one of the first 1440p 144hz ips displays to exist. I bought it in 2015 when it came out. 9 years is a long time and I'm glad it's lasted this long. When I'm spending this kind of money I want something to last and I'm afraid an oled won't last this long just because of burn in.

is this worth buying compared to the pg27aqdp asus rog? I have a 1080p ips as of the moment. and a 7900x and 3070 hardware, but will upgrade gpu in a year or 2

As an evening gamer, I don't care for insane brightness. Even when I had the LG 27GR95QE, I never maxed it out.

We're all still waiting for the tutorial on how to buff out the matte finish on monitors....
