I love these early early japanese history videos, thank you. Sengoku Jidai is fascinating and worthy of thousands of videos, but there is so much that happened from 700-1000ad, formulative years that was the creation of medieval distinctly japan we came to know.

I thought the Setting the Stage videos were only uploaded 2 years ago or so, as they were only about a year old when I first saw them. Just had to look back and check, can't believe it's been 4 years since I first started Really glad you're revisiting these videos with the entire Sengoku Jidai series now under your belt.

As Ieyasu once declared upon founding Edo Castle: ''Goody Goody Gumdrops!'' 😜

Er...No, wait, I said that, lol. Thanks for your hard work Shogunate, as always!

What good timing. I've actually been translating stories uploading videos about the early to mid Heian Period warriors these past few weeks. They're fascinating insights into the culture and values of these pre-shogunate, very early warrior elite, and you can see how the actions of the early heroes like Taira no Masakado, Taira no Koremochi and Minamoto no Yorimitsu, influenced warriors and samurai from later times. I'm very much looking forward to the next video in particular but also to this series as a whole.

great to see you finally do these updated videos!

btw there's a popular historical anime currently airing called "The Elusive Samurai" which has Ashikaga Takuji as the the antagonist. Maybe consider making some Nanboku-chō era videos because of the renewed interest in the era?

Been following your work since those videos on this and my old account. Overjoyed to see you revisit and update these. As much as I love the Sengoku era, earlier Japanese history has always been my favourite to explore. Killing it as ever, dude.

Glad to see you revisiting old topics. However, I just wanted to note that in Korean “Si” is almost always pronounced as “shi” so it would be Shil-la as opposed to Sil-la
