Saw the Last Samurai as a 15 year old boy and afterwards I read Shogun after my mom recommended it. Fell in love with historic Japan, vowed to one day stay in Japan for a prolonged time. When I was 27 I moved to Japan and I've been living here for 7 years now. The days of old are definitely gone, but there are places around that make me fall in love with Japan all over again.

It's a strange feeling to see the history we learn in elementary school turned into such cool visuals. .

The "Sengoku Period" (the era of civil wars) that Japanese learn about in school classes was the period before Toyotomi Hideyoshi, aka "Taikoh" in this video, once ruled Japan. And this "Sengoku Period" was filled with countless treacheries, plots, numerous warlords and fierce battles. Thinking back on how I felt when I was taking the class, it was as if I were watching "Game of Thrones" right now.

When I was watching "Game of Thrones, " I thought it would be great if there was a show that portrayed Sengoku Period in Japan with this quality, but I never thought it would actually become a reality!
