When they activated the first of the IG-88 line, it consumed all data files, recognized it was an assassin droid, and accepted its dominance over all living beings. Turning against its creators, it replicated its programming into three other IG-88 units. Together, the four seized control of the droid manufacturing facilities on Mechis III and set a diabolical scheme in motion. Every droid manufactured included programming that, when activated, would trigger a droid uprising to destroy every biological being in the galaxy. Three of the IG-88 units met their end on bounty hunting missions. The fourth transferred himself into the computer core of the second Death Star. As it prepared to send the activation signal, fate intervened. Wedge Antilles and Lando Clarissian brought down not only the Emperor but also averted the extermination of all organic beings.

I like the fact that when IG88 infiltrated the Death Star’s main computer that it trolled the emperor by slamming doors and messing with the climate while he was there.

So fun fact, the star wars rts star wars: empire at war, has a mod called awakening the rebellion where the player can play as the various crime factions in star wars to take controls of the galaxy. The way they upgrade technology is by swapping leadership each with their own strengrhs and weaknesses. One of which is IG--88 droid revolution making IG-88 the primary leader of the main playable crime faction giving the player access to droid based units such as B1 and B2 battledroids, large trash compactor robots modified for warfare, as well as CIS warships and ground vehicles. IG-88 as a space combat hero has his droid brIn uploaded to a former separatist Lucrehulk battlestation. RTS fans should definitely check it out if u havent played the game already.
