Here’s some additional information about Dragon’s Dogma 2’s microtransactions:
There’s a maximum number of purchases for each DLC item. For example, you can buy one additional Portcrystal for $2.99. You can buy eight sets of Rift Crystals of different amounts; five Wakestones; and one of everything else available.
Also, some clarifications:
The Art of Metamorphosis can be used to edit your own character or your pawn.
There are only two permanent Portcrystals during the main story.

Like the developers take some quick looks at their games and go, "ok charge for these things." and the devs kinda go, "Ok, let's make these things super easy to get and not tell the investors. "

Forcing rpg players to stick to their first character is so dumb lol. The memes about spending hours on your first rpg character only to delete or remake them after the first cutscene exists for a reason

The microtransactions themselves aren't the worst but they shouldn't even be there to begin with, as this becomes more common practice in games it may be incorporated in to future game design to make it more of a grind to earn something in game and incentivise you to spend a few extra dollars here and there.

I'd say the biggest reason for the negative user reviews is the poor game optimization on PC. Even the best of hardware has trouble running this game. The bad performance is a much bigger hinderance to enjoying the game than the microtransactions.

res evil had rocket launcher and unlimited ammo microtransactions. That was a single player game as well.
Everything in the dlc can be unlocked in the game

Actually, the mtx DLC in dd2 are items in the pre order and deluxe edition, capcom sells part of the items in the deluxe edition separately for people who only buy the regular edition, so they can try the items in the deluxe edition, so they can choose for themselves, and the mtx DLC items are only valid for one-time purchase, not multiple or unlimited.

Is it true that you can only ever buy *one* portcrystal for real money? If so, that's pretty well balanced and within the scope of the game

Aside from the portcrystal everything you see here for sale was present in the first game, going so far to have an Eternal Ferrystone if you pre-ordered the non Dark Arisen version, so im ok with those microtransactions
