So what does this ARG hold?

This is NOT a series called Minecraft VVSauce where I explore random features of Minecraft. Not Secret Minecraft things or Minecraft lore (like Game Theory) or Escape Rooms, but a research based series dedicated to over-answering questions you never asked, in this case a Minecraft ARG! This one in particular is quite scary and I am shivering in my timbers.

Great story. Minimalistic, no cheap scares and we don't even really get to see the mob. Just the remains of any old server any group of friends could've played in back then and the fate of the server being implied rather than being over the top.

This ARG is genuinely heartbreaking. This might be the best ARG of all time. Minecraft horror isn’t “ooh big loud monster gonna chase you ooh”. Minecraft horror is subtle and is meant to make you feel uneasy. It feels familiar, yet you don’t recognize it fully. Something is wrong and you know it. Minecraft is a special game for many people, but not many horror projects dare to twist it into something so emotionally connected to the viewer and the stories secretly going on in their beloved game.

This reminds me of another arg I liked about a mob that wasn’t supposed to exist, and it was also a pretty sad story.

There's a huge glaring issue with this ARG... the game pauses any time the player goes to edit text on a sign, or look at a book... servers don't do this only singleplayer worlds, i mean unless the server has a mod that'll make that happen, but with 4 players, that would be kinda annoying if the server paused any time someone placed a sign or opened a book.

Other then this one issue, love the ARG anyway.

This was a perfectly crafted story, from beginning to end. It did have a few typical Minecraft ARG tropes, but they never went overboard and became cliche like basically every other ARG.
The whole thing just had this perfect and extremely palpable "gloom" to it and I felt that immediately when I saw the first screenshot. The creator somehow made this "sever" look like ruins, like a piece of history that's begging to be laid to rest. In the beginning when you mentioned that it feels like the world is holding it's breath waiting for something big to happen, I felt that.

I do wish that we got a good look at the mob. Mattere created it for them, but they couldn't see the mob for what it was largly due to grief. Ending the story by making us the viewers see the mob in its full form, as it was meant to be seen, feels like the natural ending...I'm honestly a little disappointed. That said this is still great, and I admire the work put in! 😄 hopefully the creator continues with making content such as this 👌
