ABOUT ME: I’m a former Jehovah’s Witness who faded away from the religion around 2 years ago. I believe that current members of the organization deserve to be aware of the abuses committed by Watchtower. I am a big proponent of religious freedom and critical thinking, and invite my audience to be kind, open minded, and always stay curious.

Pretty sure that Jesus, the guy who could turn water into wine, wasn’t against parties or celebrating stuff in general.

I'll always remember an xjw who started crying happy tears at the sight of her young daughter making friends with other kids at a birthday party. The little girl will never know the burden of growing up in this cult.

I love how the message is "Jesus was an individual. Jesus didn't do what anyone else told him to. Now sit down, shut up, and do what we tell you, just like Jesus would have wanted." Actually following Jesus's example isn't the problem. If you did that you'd be out feeding the hungry and hanging with the marginalized. The problem is the organizations that use Jesus as an excuse to get money and status.

Why do JWs always depict everyone else who isn't a witness as ignorant and cruel? I don't hate JWs I pity them

The book includes refusing blood transfusions. I have iron overload, and I was told it was wrong for me to donate blood (which was necessary for me to live). I was literally counselled and then doubted my treatment because the necessary medical treatment was to donate blood

Wow, they are really trying to cling onto the children because they are losing so many adults. This is sickening.

We had JWs at school. In the 80s. We didn’t ever bully them. We just noticed they left the room for some lessons and couldn’t go into assembly (which a lot of us envied!). One of them was my prefect partner. He was just a normal, slightly quiet kid. One of them then died in their twenties because of medical issues… I suspect you can guess what happened. Very sad, but I guess that’s just how it goes when people believe… something.

Serparation from the world is the goal of any abusive relationship.

As a parent, I'd be absolutely livid if my child was being preached to and pressured like this at school. I highly doubt any parent would be ok with this. Wtf are they thinking? I'm glad I never got up the courage to preach to my friends at school, it was bad enough having to miss out on literally everything.

Where do they get that idea that all bullies have lollipops 😂

I'm not a ex JW but an atheist who went to the kingdom hall to study their behaviour. It was absolutely fascinating and horrific. On day one there was an announcement that someone was excommunicated. The whole congregation murmured with hate.

There should absolutely be laws to contain this child abuse

"We have fun" seems to always be followed by simply watching Caleb be an idiot. That's it. That's the entirety of fun.

As A Christian (not JW, my family strongly dislikes the cult), this is sad. From what I know, the bible never says anything against parties. In fact, there were plenty of stories with gatherings. Also, I don’t think this show accurately defines “In the world, not of the world” :/

It's good to be different?! Well, unless you're gay or Lesbian. Unless you have different thoughts about Jehovah's Witnesses, so your friends and family have to shun you. Unless you take part in a Christmas party at school or eat a birthday cupcake.

The thing that shocked me the most about this video is...the fact that the animators DON'T get paid!

As a Christian I find it extremely weird that these kids can’t celebrate Christmas, you know, Jesus’s birth, or do Jehovah Witnesses not believe in Jesus?

Sophia is only Zoey's friend if she can convert her? What kind of friendship is that?!

If you grew up as a JW you KNOW none of this is realistic AT ALL! No one is conducting studies at school most times you’re trying to avoid it being brought up you’re a witness anyway. So unfair to young children that are in the organization because some will go to school & use it as their “personal territory” only to be seen as a weirdo, isolating them even further in turn putting young kids in awkward situations 🤦🏽‍♀️ I wish kids could just be kids 🤦🏽‍♀️

As a child, living in isolation without the opportunity to develop social skills will have negative consequences in adulthood. Wanting to be part of a group is a natural human need! I feel sorry every time when I see a jw kid.
