When people are disinterested or bored their minds wander and it’s not their fault. This especially hard for a child to do so it’s unfair for adults to expect their children to have the same amount of focus as they do.

Honestly, I'm trained in childcare. A child's maximum attention span in minutes is roughly double their age +1. So if these children are four, they can only listen for a max of 9 minutes, give or take depending on developmental factors such as disability or other things like tiredness. And that attention span applies to activities that are age appropriate. So the typical attention span rules wouldn't apply to a child sitting listening to an adult drone on about god using adult language and topics.

What they are suggesting these children do is totally unreasonable and, for most children, impossible, therefore lowering their self esteem and making them feel incapable and frustrated, and often guilty and fearful of hell that they cant do what is asked of them
