Awesome video :) and so timely because as a previous barre devotee and now mainly doing strength training w relatively heavy weight, I’m realizing years of attending barre classes really helped my stability and mobility to develop. Also I think Bar classes helped me with mind/muscle connection. I sometimes still take classes for fun and yes music! It’s just that for my current goal of muscle building and strength gaining, it’s probably not the most efficient. But I still like them!

I mainly do barre(as well as pilates) when I'm on my monthly(as well as the 3-4 days leading up to the start of my monthly) I'm super low energy around this time and Barre just helps me work out without using too much energy.

Other than that I just do Barre once a week(as well as pilates once a week) and the rest of the week is strength training and kickboxing.

Love this explanation! I did barre for a little while postpartum to get back into working out. I still really like it, for all the reasons you mentioned, and it brings me back to my dance days in a way.

I am NO expert...but as someone who has been doing group fitness classes for 15+ years in many major cities, I really like this viewpoint of Barre. And I think it is a good supplement for many people. For me, I can't get past the overall vibe of many barre classes, the language they use and the lack of basic biology that some of the instructors seem to lack. Also, when you have a ballet professional/someone who has been trained in ballet and dance for their whole life, they really seem to think that everyone in their classes has this amazing turnout and I just don't get it. I have also heard so many women say ' why is my body not changing- why don't I look like the instructor who has been in ballet for 20 years?"....well, that's because barre imo, is not what I would personally recommend for straight weight loss- if that is your MAIN goal. There are so many other things to get you there- and muscle shaking is not always good! It's the messaging over the 'long lean..." BS that plagues barre that gets me

To add to your excellent point about music, moving in sync with others (even through a screen) feels special. Your wholistic perspective is so great

As someone who has bad joints (torn acl, arthritis) I find Barre such a great workout and foundation for me. Really challenges me and pushes me and makes me feel more confident that I'm not going to hurt myself in the way a lot of other workouts do.

You just convinced me to try out barre! I really struggle with coordination and stability for a number of reasons and I really want to improve on that. It also looks really cool! I used to do ballet as a kid and I’ve always wanted to go back to it, so this looks right up my alley 😁

I LOVE this. ❤️ And I LOVE Barre. ☺️ Like you said “Barre” is not one thing like Pilates. There are so many brands with so many approaches. Some don’t even use a barre! There are some brands I absolutely hate and one I love which I do consistently. But it’s not the ONLY thing I do. I like my heavy weights, too. BTW, your use of the yoga block and foam roller here looks really interesting!

I love Barre, I’ve done The Physique 57 and Core Fusion dvds, I’m getting back into working out with my dvds in addition to YouTube since I don’t want to have a bunch of Dvds go to waste. What do you consider the best popular barre chains, I think Core Fusion is really good. You should do a video reviewing different barre videos for a month as part of your series, I really love those videos ❤️

The way you structure your classes sounds perfect! I must say I was quite surprised by the effect of standing barre on my legs when taking ballet in college. Before the streaming revolution I had quite a few barre inspired DVDs to try and replicate a dance class experience (knowing I was way too remedial to take 99% of NYCs so-called beginner ballet classes) but never enjoyed the movements like I did in that traditional ballet class so stopped doing them. I’ve resisted the Fluidity infomercial for a long time being tempted to fill that void!

This is sad to hear. I am Certified, in Mat and Reformer Pilates, Yoga, Functional, Group Fitness, Personal Trainer and Certified in CPR and First Aid all requirements to work in the Fitness industry. I have found some Studios of people starting certain franchises don't require it because they are just trying to make Money. I get Solicited to teach at Studios i Show up with Credentials they look confused. And I have been asked Why do I have all that. I see a lot of new Studios popping up. People getting injured. I would not work for a Studio of people who don't want employees to be licensed and don't do CEC'S
