Russian transliterated lyrics/ Русские транслитерированный текст:

Boj gremel v okrestnostjah Kabula,
Noch' sijala vspleskami ognja.
Ne slomalo nas i ne sognulo,
Vidno, ljudi krepche, chem bronja.
Diplomaty my ne po prizvaniju,
Nam milej, bratishka, avtomat,
Chjotkie komandy-prikazanija
I v karmane parochka granat.

Vspomnim, tovarishh, my Afganistan,
Zarevo pozharishh, gornyj okean.
Jeti peredrjagi zhizni i vojny
Vspomnim na prostorah mirnoj tishiny.
Vspomni s toboju, kak my shli v nochi,
Kak ot nas bezhali v gory basmachi,
Kak zagrohotal tvoj groznyj AKS...
Vspomnim, tovarishh, vspomnim, nakonec!

Na kostre v dymu treshhali vetki,
V kotelke varilsja krepkij chaj.
Ty prishjol ustavshij iz razvedki,
Mnogo pil i stol'ko zhe molchal,
Sinimi zamjorzshimi rukami
Protiral vspotevshij avtomat
I o chjom-to dumal vremenami,
Golovoj otkinuvshis' nazad...

Vspomnim, tovarishh, my Afganistan,
Zarevo pozharishh, gornyj okean.
Jeti peredrjagi zhizni i vojny
Vspomnim na prostorah mirnoj tishiny.
Vspomni s toboju, kak my shli v nochi,
Kak ot nas bezhali v gory basmachi,
Kak zagrohotal tvoj groznyj AKS...
Vspomnim, tovarishh, vspomnim, nakonec!

Samoljot zahodit na posadku,
Tjazhelo motorami dysha.
On privjoz patrony i vzryvchatku,
Jeto dlja tebja i dlja menja.
Znajte zhe, rebjata-musul'mane,
Vasha sila v tom, chto my za vas.
I ne nuzhno lishnih trepyhanij -
V boj hodit' nam ne v poslednij raz...

Vspomnim, tovarishh, my Afganistan,
Zarevo pozharishh, gornyj okean.
Jeti peredrjagi zhizni i vojny
Vspomnim na prostorah mirnoj tishiny.
Vspomni s toboju, kak my shli v nochi,
Kak ot nas bezhali v gory basmachi,
Kak zagrohotal tvoj groznyj AKS...

Vspomnim, tovarishh, vspomnim, nakonec!

Russians were in Afghan for 9 years, and produced many great songs. We've been there for 20 and produced none that I know of.

This song is much older than Afgan war. It was composed by Soviet military alpinists who fought for Caucassus Mountains against nazi mountain division "Edelweiss", and put on music of pre-war tango. Original text was:

Where the paths are covered with the whiteness,
Where the rowdy avalanches run,
Alpinists has turned to squad of fighters,
And filled mountain air with their song.

We've become accustomed to the blizzard,
We have found siblings in the rocks.
This war works. And when the order's given,
We've went out to scout foe's locks.

Do you remember, comrade, shining snow,
Backsan's gracile forest, enemies below?
Do you remember grenade on the crest,
Words of our letter for youths coming next?

Do you remember howl of midnight storm?
Howl of human wolves dressed in uniform?
How they get silenced by your thunderous gun?
Do you remember, comrade, how they run?

Campfire flames were whirl in strange accretion,
Tea was slowly boiling in the pot.
You've return hard tired from recon mission,
Full of silence, hungry for the hot.

By the hands turn blue from winter breathing,
You've clean Shpagin's gun of crunchy rime,
And await again your shortly briefing,
Let minds flow just for wasting time.

And some day, we swear you - it will happen -
Time will come for our final strike,
They was never see Caucassus taken,
They shall never take the Elbrus pike!

Where the storms are whirl all nights and all days,
Where on rocks the black are mixed with white,
We have lock the pass by our bodies,
And gave menwolves their final fight.

What happened will gone, as the smoke on wind,
Memory will dusted on the timewhell grind,
But we've remember these redoubted days,
Keep in our hearths till their beaten breakes.

Do you remember, comrade, shining snow,
Backsan's gracile forest, enemies below?
Bones on the Bass? Graves near the cliff?
Keep them, comrade, keep them till you live.

I know this is a long comment, but you never fail to amaze me Omnistar. You're taking literally all of the songs from this era that I really like and uploading translations of them, and it makes me like them even more (and it allows me to actually sing along lol). I especially love how a lot of them are still relevant to soldiers and the situation in Afghanistan. Keep up the good work!

Edit: Really liked the modern Afghanistan footage at the end!

1:00 - I believe the term "AKS" is reffering to the AKS-74, a standard VDV rifle of the Afghan war era. All AK-47 variants were long out of active service by 1980's. Some units were still using the AKM but they were a minority.

BTW, AKS-74 is not a shortended AK. The "S" stands for skladnoy (folding stock). It's a standard length rifle. AKS-74U is the shortened version, used by armored vehicle crews and helicopter pilots.

It's amazing how something can bridge the gap between generations, ideology, nationality and time. This truly shows the power of music, Bravo comrades.

funny how every time i learn and think about history it always repeats itself.

besides all the pointless political bullshit, i think that soldiers whom were deployed in afghanistan whether it was the russians, americans or even the local volunteers doesn't get enough respect that they deserve for what they've went through.

10:30PM: What a shitty day it has been. I can't wait to grab something to eat, then crash out.

*a few moments later*

Hmm... Omnistar has uploaded a new video? OK, I'll check it out, and catch some sleep later.

*many hours and a few shots of vodka later*

*"Вспомним, товарищ, мы Афганистан!"*

It's sad to think that so much Russians died in Afghanistan, yet here we are. Almost makes their sacrifices all in vain. I hope everything goes well.❤️❤️love the vid.

An excellent song with a rich history. It is based on another, older song called the "Baksanskaya" which was written by Red Army fighters in the mountain regions of the Kavkaz, an area of particularly brutal fighting during the Great Patriotic War in which the Russians bitterly defended the high alpine regions against the German fascist invaders. Yuri Visbor does a great version if you can find it.

1000th like for you comrade. This song came at a perfect time when we all need to remember why a war had to be ended in Afghanistan in the first place. Bravo, my friend, bravo! I suppose it is only apt if I say: "Comrade, let's remember Afghanistan!" in the name of those who fought and gave their lives there on all sides

i love how the song kind of resembles how it went for the soviets
they entered loud, they became quiter in the middle, they left lowdy but with strength presnted
