Footage is from 1989-1993, mostly by Alexander Nevzorov, Channel 1, and Gosteleradiofond. This song is from 1990, published posthumously in the "Black Album" after Viktor Tsoi, the lead singer of Kino, tragically died in a car accident. The track, like all others on the album, did not have a name until 1994 and was only numbered (4).

Kino has to be one of my favourite bands. Their songs each portray such an amazing sense of sadness, hope, or action even just from the melody. I don’t speak Russian myself, so I can attest to this, but knowing the lyrics just enriches the song’s feel tenfold. Truly an amazing band.

Not sure if anyone will read this but even though I have no links to Russia, I still listen to these post-Soviet songs to help cope with my own issues (since ofc they come from Russia's worst period in recent history and have a melancholic vibe to them), and they provide a voice which resonates with me in a time where I'm not comfortable speaking to anyone else, really, this music is a gem and definitely underrated

In 1991 we lost our Roman Empire and everything is happening today these are all consequences of those event in late 80s-early 90s.

Found out about kino just the other day and i absolutely love it. I remember these days and years very vividly. I'm from germany and we have our own story very intertwined with this. Many people here especially in western germany still haven't understand how negative our involvement was and what we did to eastern germany, ussr and eastern european countries.

as a russian who really enjoys your videos, a song i recommend you to check out is Легенда, by Kino. It has a feeling that i cant describe, basically it just feels like a song set for an ending, super quiet and few lines, but super impactful. Otherwise great vid!
