What Is Adobe Firefly? An AI guide for beginners showing an introduction to prompting and where Adobe is taking this product in the future.

Adobe recently announced their generative AI beta program: Adobe Firefly. This video explains how to get access to the beta and how to start AI prompting as a beginner.

What is prompting? Prompting is a way to create with AI generative models. You type in text (the prompt) and the AI will output the generated image.

What is generative AI art? Generative AI art uses a diffusion model trained on other images to generate unique creation outputs. Diffusion models generate a new work every time, so you never know exactly what your creation is going to be.

Adobe Firefly has one of the best user interfaces I have seen for generative AI art. Firefly has enabled a decoupling, a separation, of the text prompt and the style preferences. This decoupling means that it is easier than ever to iteratively modify the generated art output to fine tune the output image to more clearly show your imagination.

Firefly has been trained on copyright free and licensed images, so there are no intellectual property issues with their training model. I know this will be a relief to many creators who are concerned about AI programs stealing their work online.

I hope that you find this video helpful. I will be making more AI tutorial videos and would appreciate any feedback in the comment section below. Please also let me know if you have any questions so I know what videos to make in the future.

Happy prompting!

Good overview thanks for sharing however 1:15 requires come context: They train their AI on Adobe Stock and quite possibly when a user uploads to their cloud service... however what they don't tell you is that most of the artists/photographers who put their work on Stock aren't aware this! That coupled with the fact that they they only get paid 33 CENTS for each use of their work. Adobe keeps the other 67 cents and gets free use of their images (without their knowledge) to train their billion dollar AI project. Think hard about that fact. Technically it may be legal but is it ethical? Otherwise the UI is very intuitive it seems. That's going to be huge for them.
