Pruning your trees is an easier task than you may think! Here is how you do it.

👉 Step 1: The Undercut 👇
First, make a small undercut on the branch about 12-18 inches away from the trunk. This prevents bark from tearing as the branch falls, preserving the tree's integrity. 🌳

👉 Step 2: The Top Cut 👇
Next, create a top cut slightly farther out from the undercut, allowing the branch to fall away cleanly. This eliminates the risk of tearing and damage to the tree. 🌲

👉 Step 3: The Final Cut 👇
Finally, make a clean, close-to-the-trunk final cut, just outside the branch collar. The branch collar is a natural bulge where the branch meets the tree, and cutting here promotes faster healing and growth. 🌱

Is that cut flush enough to the tree that it will form a collar around the edge of the cut?

Just undercut it so it doesn’t peel and do branch collars just not exist

I count 2 but either way it makes sense, your cutting at certain points to make sure the weight of the limb doesn’t bring it down before you can get a clean cut in at the base
