I agree with your point for the most part that’s why fasting for too long is not beneficial that’s what my trainer always told me. He also said if you want to be at least a 500 calorie deficit. When I was at my peak training for the PJ program I was burning 12, 000 calories a day with 3, 600 intensity minutes a week. Thanks to people wasting my life and torturing me and depriving me of sleep for a year I am at the point of suicide

Ah, yes 3575 calories. That’ll make me loose weight. That calculation doesn’t work for people my size.

170*15, at 6'2", that would put me at 2550 calories, or about 200-300 kcal over maintenance, at my current sedentary lifestyle. Instead, I'm doing either BW*11, or better yet, BW (170)*14, then multiplying by 75% to get my rough caloric deficit.

Your metabolism wont actually slow down in a big deficit. Obviously you burn less calories is your lighter and also if you feel sluggish because your hungry but the other 90% of your metabolism will stay the same. Losing muscle is the main issue once you approach 6pack abs so i agree with the 400 calorie deficit at that point

Thanks for saying eating less makes your metabolism slow down I always thought you had to starve to lose weight....

Probably the dumbest general calculation for a deficit I’ve heard. As if that would work for most people.

I have recently read that fasting is an inadequate way to maintain muscle in a deficit due to there not being available aminos to prevent the breakdown during the fasted hours. This is where the 30g of protein every 2-3 hours bro science came from.

Just do interment fasting or OMAD.

There, just saved you a stupid amount of time and effort with better results.

Your welcome

Mistake 1: 8% body fat is unrealistic for 99% of men to maintain (too much side effects like fatigue and tiredness, and there's no reason to go that low). 10-12% for a minimum is probably maintainable, but 12%-15% is ideal.
Mistake 2: No, your metabolism won't slow down if you're at a higher deficit, and you won't lose muscle (if you're eating enough protein and maintaining training hard with your normal workout program). There are other reasons though why you should make a deficit higher than 500 calories (only do it if you're experienced and know what you're doing)
Mistake 3: Fasting is not always easier, depends on the person.

For me intermittent fasting is much more easier than eating healthy all the time, From 8pm to 8am I don't eat anything, Instead of skipping breakfast I skip dinner, because I'm a morning person, and I need the fuel to start my day. I get a total of 5-6 hours of fasting while I'm awake .

Around 400 calories deficit is a good rule of thumb for cutting, you can increase it if your a very high bodyfat
