My EDC Tool Kit

Over the past several months I've been putting together a small EDC tool kit that can handle a large variety of small repairs or adjustments around the homestead and on my vehicles. Recently I've added a few key components that have really leveled up this kit.

That’s a great kit, I have some Knipex already and just got the Wera Tool-Check Plus today and made a small but very significant mod to it already.

I put a hole under the head of the ratchet so I can store it with the 1/4 inch adapter ready to go. To use a socket I don’t even need to open the main compartment.

This is how I went about it. With the ratchet in place I poked a hot straight pick tool down the middle of the ratchet hole. First just left a mark then checked for concentricity and adjusted before making a hole, then I proceeded to make the hole bigger with successively bigger drill bits but by heating the blunt end. I let it cool and removed some melted bits between each drill bit, ending in a 9mm hole that came out pretty neat.

The adapter lines up fair perfectly with the bit hole beneath it and I place the smallest Allen head bits in front of it. The main compartment closes properly and can be accessed without removing the ratchet. It basically looks factory, no one without the kit would even tell.

Great kit!
4 small items that i would add to it:
1. Electrical tape
2. Gorilla tape
3. Zip ties
4. Bic lighter

Great idea for a small edc kit. I repair sterilizers in hospitals and it’s such a pain to get in and out especially with all my tools. I’ve been trying to setup different “levels” of repair kits for certain situations. I think something like this would cover some of the smaller day to day things I deal with. Thanks for the review

Awesome kit.
I am inspired to assemble my own.
I will add a size 14 socket (Japanese cars and bikes) to the wera set and stainless locking wire (normally used to secure aircraft nuts etc) instead of trapping wire. Also will add an high output lighter and a small (gel type) glue tube. Those knipex wrenches are also mandatory I guess. I have the larger one already and love it.

I'm definitely buying that ratchet. Not something I need or would use all the time, but I feel like it's one of those things that when I need it, it'll make my life easier.

We carry Knippex pliers at work, it's amazing what they can do and how tough they are.

The Wera tool-check plus is the first tool I take with me when I need to repair things out of the house. I have it for more than 5 years and it still performs and looks like new, although it is my most used tool.

Great kit Jeremy! I always appreciate your no BS approach to you videos. There's always something that the individual will add or subtract but this is a great starter with great explanations as to why it's in there. Well done!

A well thought out kit thats not full of the trendy expensive titanium “tools”. Well done! I’ll be adding a handful of these to my kit as well.

Nice little kit! You could also add a small neodymium magnet. Takes no space and you can use it at the end of the wire to fish out a dropped fastener, etc.

Great idea & I decided to start a similar kit. Ordered with the link below for the Maxpedition and the 2 Knipex pliers. Arrived today. Unfortunately the MINI Maxpedition linked is way too small. The larger Knipex barely fits. Returning and ordered the E.D.C. version that looks closer to what is shown in the video - hopefully. I'll keep you posted!

GREAT KIT! This little tool kit would have saved me HOURS of frustration and hundreds of dollars when my battery lost connection while riding. Total power loss at 60 MPH in the middle of nowhere. Stood waiting for a tow truck for hours and the cost to get everything, including me, back home, would have easily paid for a few of these kits. Thanks for the idea as I've been looking for something exactly like this for my next long ride.

There’s a nice little set of SAE 1/4 drive sockets by Makita that would make a nice add on… they have a low profile vinyl carrier strip, very compact.

Great kit! I've been doing almost exactly the same. I added the makita SAE socket caddy to compliment the Wera metric stuff. Also instead of a second screwdriver and light I have a prybar and ruler. A little bailing wire and duct tape round mine out. Same maxpedition pocket, wera caddy and same Knipex.

A telescopic magnet is always handy as well for picking up screws I use mine weekly lol

Those Knipex pliers are fantastic. I bought a set for a few buddies for Christmas this year. A+

Nice wee kit. You raise a good point with the wire; a selection of commonly used fixings (a few screws, nuts and bolts, wire and even wall plugs), in a plastic bag or container, are so much more useful than the ubiquitous gaffer tape and cable ties, which of course I also carry in my EDC toolkit.

Great advice about using the "factory" tire change tools at least once. My experience is that I only "need" to change a tire while using them is on the side of a dark road in the rain.
