MoFi Studiodeck gimbal issue

I’m not able to balance the tonearm. Sorry for the crude video, tough to capture with only two hands. The weight was pushed on up to the pin on the bottom of the tonearm. When moving the arm up or down, the arm sticks and does not float up or down as expected. This also occurs when the weight is screwed forward or when the counterweight is on or off. When the weight is all the way forward or all the way back on the tonearm, the arm doesn’t stick. Any ideas would be much appreciated. I do plan to contact MoFi and get their opinion.

Hard to tell what issue you are demonstrating?


Some arms are designed to balance at mutiple heights, I forget the engineering term but its a type of balance methodology which allows for more constant force on the cartridge end regardless of variations in tracking height (fluctuations due to vinyl warping for instance).


Or are you demonstrating that the bearings are too tight?
