I Bought the World's DEADLIEST Turtle!

In today's video, I buy the worlds DEADLIEST turtle called the mata mata from the amazon river! These turtles are pretty rare and I found the BIGGEST one iv ever seen at a local fish store! This turtle was $800 but wasn't as expensive as another turtle there called the Fly River turtle, which costs $8,000! We bought the mata mata and brought him back to my backyard where he has a pond all to himself because he's too aggressive for other fish! Comment down a name for our new turtle! And let me know if we should go back to this store to buy more rare fish!

Hey Bobby, i was in charge of husbandry at a small zoo here. Mata Mata turtles like it dark. Get some drift wood that enables it to crawl under in the water. I would also add some more water they have very long necks and will have no problems breathing. What ever falls from the trees such as leaves and twigs let them stay. The more cover the happier they are. They are pretty stationary in their settings. Small goldfish or shiners can be added so he can eat when ever he feels🎉 hungry. Nice looking turtle!

Rob my wife and I enjoy watching your channel here in Redding California. We get a good laugh from watching your youthful energy. We are in our early 60’s and wish we had some of your energy. There s something I need to say about your adventures into all the water ways where you catch fish. You are not tramping them in sewers, that would be deadly to your health. You are catching fish in the city STORM DRAIN systems that are built to take excess rain water back to the oceans. Unfortunately a lot of trash and debris ends up in these storm drains from people dumping their trash carelessly and rain water washing it into canals and finally the ocean. I appreciate you taking and interest in saving what you can of the environment and the aquatic life. Good work👍😎

Minnows, platies, mollies, guppies, goldfish, and sunfish can all go in the tank for food.

Matamata Turtles are lone-wolf types. They don’t like to mix with other creatures, so they shouldn’t be handled often. You don’t find them moving around that much either, which means that they aren’t the most energetic viewing companion.
Although they aren’t cuddly or zestful, they are very easy to care for. If you wanted a low-maintenance pet, the Matamata would be a great friend. Their unique appearance also means that your lethargic buddy will still be very interesting to watch.

(So if you did eventually get a female matamata turtle and they breeded they would have the eggs around October-December)

I'm Brazilian and if this turtle genuinely came from the Amazon forest and was not raised in captivity it's possible that it was illegally trafficked. In Brazil, the sale and possession of Mata-Mata turtles are illegal according to the Environmental Crimes Law (Law No. 9, 605/1998), and the Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (IBAMA) also regulates the possession and trade of native species. I highly recommend you guys to research where this fish store sourced this turtle!!!

The sale and trade of Mata-Mata turtles for abroad can be legal in some cases, as long as all applicable laws and regulations are followed, both in the country of origin and the destination country. To legally export a Mata-Mata turtle as a pet, the exporter must obtain a CITES export permit from the country of origin and ensure that all local laws related to the possession and trade of wildlife are respected. In addition, the importer must ensure that the trade and possession of the turtle are legal in the destination country and, if necessary, obtain a CITES import permit or other relevant authorizations. You should ask the pet store for documentation regarding the origin of the Mata-Mata turtle and any required permits, such as CITES import permits or any other relevant authorizations.
