Wow. That was a LOT easier than I expected. Twenty minutes tops, super easy to follow instructions, didn't even have to pull washing machine out of position. Simply tilted to my thighs, loosened the two screws, popped the control console forward, viola, there's the switch. Perfect access, simple to replace, 2 tools, put it back to together, plug it back in and tested a few open/close lid, started a small wash and am sitting here amazed at how simple it was... Thank you.

Hey Steve, definitely an easy fix. I only have 1 recommendation, can you somehow reword the phrase about lifting the lid up? For some reason I didn't hear you correctly & almost broke the part. I guess I misunderstood your comment about raising the lid. It all worked out & I now have a working washing machine without the costly service charge!! Thanks again, Doug

Thanks Steve! I was able to fix my washer! I was so excited about being able to do it for less than $9 instead of paying a repairman.

I ordered the switch but the connector is burned. How can I order a part?

Been troubleshooting an issue on a maytag that uses this part. The washer was not starting if you closed the door unless you put right to left force on the lid (wedging the right side of the lid to scoot it slightly). I have changed the lid gasket as well as this timer today and the issue persists. Having looked at the wear pattern on the timer it looks as if the curved wire which engages the switch is a bit to far to the right and the pressure is helping it flip the trigger. Worn lid bearings throwing the door tracking off most likely at this stage? It seems like a very easy part swap.

the video is fine and dandy if your whirlpool washer has those two phillips head screws but my whirlpool washer must be older because it does not have a phillips screw holding the controls to the machine. now what?

Hi and thanks. We watched your video Saturday and ordered the part and I should have rewatched due to mine snapping when replacing it due to me not lifting the lid. Can I glue it in place for now?

The back tab on the part broke when replacing, which is the problem I had with the part being replaced. It's this just an issue with the part? Ugh.

The previous homeowners disconnected the wires that would go in that black piece to the lid switch. Is that a piece I can purchase and reconnect?

Do you know where I can the black piece that fits into the switch?

I still couldn't get it to work after putting the new part in but got it to work when I bypassed the switch using a wire. Is it possible that I didn't hook the switch to the inside of the lid correctly or purchased the wrong part?
