Leopard geckos need heat pads, not really heat lamps and sand even if it's still calcium packed can still cause impaction. In the wild they do not live in actual desert habitats but rocky semi grassy Environment with adequate rainfall. It may or may not work, I've never tried this substrate with my gecko but I do not recommend it. Nice set up though 👍🏼

It's better to use eco earth. Where these geckos are from isn't like the legit desert so the sand is not such a good choice

it's not good to use a light as geckos can get very stressed from it. also, you need more than one hides, and you wanna know the temperature of the bottem of the cage, not the air above.

Ok 1 baby or juvenile leopard geckos can be kept in 10 Gallon tanks however adults should be kept in 20 gallon tanks 2 don't ever use sand for a leopard geckos habitat 3 leopard geckos need both a cold and warm side in the tank and a hide should be on each side 4 for the warm side of a leopard geckos tank you should use a heating mat because with heating lights not only can they mess with a leopard geckos eyes it also doesn't give then the proper belly heat which can cause problems with digesting food 5 leopard geckos also need a humid hide

I have to say zoo Med always has great setups but they messed up on this one

Uhh geckos are supposed to have more belly heat than overhead heat so a heatpad would be better. Also with reptile sand there's always risk of impact ion which can kill the gecko. Odd choice of substrate

Impaction is a byproduct of issues in husbandry. If an animal isn't receiving the proper diet, it'll begin to look for nourishment elsewhere, including non-food items. As long as your pet is well-nourished and taken care of, your pet shouldn't have any problems with ReptiSand. As an extra precaution for juveniles though, you can feed them outside their enclosure or supply them with Repti Carpet until they're bigger. Hope that answers your question. Take care.

I got this for my Leo and I would recommend it as a STARTER KIT for when they are a baby to juvenile, you also need a heat pad and hides. But it's still great! :3

You can use sand if your going to tong feed the gecko or any other reptile, also use heat matts for Leo's, not heat lamps.
