I don't think it's properly conveyed why it's better well enough, so let me try: when you walk around a corner, your time spent turning is time spent *decelerating*
As you round the corner, you either have to take an extremely wide line and lose time to the angle of approach or exit, or you take a speed loss over the course of the corner. When you are in the air, that time spent turning takes you *above* the speed cap, with an instant hit to speed upon landing, which is quickly regained. So not only are you hitting a better angle with more speed, you're also avoiding deceleration

Bcuz of bunny hopping, bunny hops helps u gain extra speed, but also punishes u if u don’t get the timing to jump right after u hit the ground, u lose a lot of speed, so since u alrd have to strafe to turn around the corner, one bunny hop helps u gain extra speed and would not lose any speed since u ain’t doing a full set of bunny hopping

playing a lot of racing games would also teach you this, minus the strafing part.

its always faster to hug the corners if you know youre gonna turn again on the next corner, this is relevant to other games as well such as valorant, cod, etc.

Important to highlight that your velocity drops signfiicantly when landing, but not enough that it makes jumping slower than running.

BUT this is why if you dont jump strafe correctly, you'll end up being slower than running.
