It's been so long that I can't remember anymore which years of these records we had to play as kids. Like everyone else, we played them repeatedly during the holidays. Those were such great times. Sitting on the floor, listening while staring at the album cover. I had no way of knowing then that in many ways, those would really be the best of times. Both parents are gone now. Been gone for many years. Almost all my Aunts and Uncles have passed also. Grandparents too. When I hear this music, these exact versions, it's almost as if they're all alive again.

I'm a young guy but I think the Christmas recording songs in the past are way better than today because you can actually feel the Christmas spirit. The Christmas songs are traditional and not altered.

In 1963 when Goodyear released this Christmas Album I was just 5 years old. My Dad owned and operated an ESSO service station at the time and he received two Christmas retailer incentive prizes that year, A Goodyear ashtray which consisted of a glass ashtray centre with a black rubber tyre around that. The other prize was this Christmas album - when he arrived home from "work" that day my Dad had something under his arm wrapped up in brown paper. We kids (I was the eldest of 4) had to wait until after dinner before we could unwrap the surprise. That album still remains in our family collection and each Christmas (if we are lucky enough to gather all of the family together) this vinyl album is brought out and played on the turntable. Nothing reminds me more of my Mum and Dad (who have now both passed away) and our early family life growing up as kids in suburban Brisbane than this Christmas album. I don't mind admitting to having tears streaming down my cheeks as I type this comment - I must be getting old!!

Not only are these albums great, but the comments are also. It's like sharing what Christmas past means to so many.

Now this is Christmas -
We drove over the Fox River and through the woods to Grandparents house on Lanewood Drive in Rockford, IL -
There was a large Christmas tree all decked out with ornaments and tinsel -
There was a crackling fire in the fireplace -
These Christmas Albums were being played on a huge wood paneled Stereo/radio console -
You could smell the Turkey cooking in the oven with the reminder to stay out of the kitchen and no you can’t look at the bird it needed to cook uninterrupted since 5:00am …
🎄Good times were had -
🎄Happy Holidays Everyone !!!

This was one of a rare handful of albums my parents traditionally set on the old phonograph on my earliest Christmas mornings. They are more formal, more deep and profound than most of today's over-stylized or commercialized versions. Of course there is a place for the dear old light-hearted secular classics, but there most assuredly must be a larger place for the divine music of this sacred season. Christmas is, after all, entirely about love, of giving without merit, about hope, and wholly about faith. Without Christ there would be no Christmas. All the secular celebrations in the world cannot possibly replace the Almighty's gift of love, of hope, of salvation for us all through His Son. Thank you for sharing this wonderful old treasure from my youth, sixty-one years ago this Christmas. God bless you all!

3 seconds in, and I can "smell" my family's big console stereo in the living room.
We had all these gorgeous records when I was a kid, and I gradually collected a set for myself from thrift stores : )

Merry Christmas everybody!

I wasn't born until 1973 but my parents got married in 1962. I grew up listening to all the old time Christmas music and I continue to listen today. The memories I have I will cherish forever and I'm so blessed to have been raised with such quality music. Christmas has not been the same since my dad died in 1990, but I strive to make Christmas magical for my little family every year and this music adds such depth and joy.

The Goodyear Holiday Albums were the best. As I've grown older, the melancholy portion of the spirit of Christmas resounds a bit higher. The music echos of those fond moments of Christmas' past.

Oh my..What great childhood memories.
My Dad worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber. He brought these albums home every year. Goodyear gave them out to the employees. And a box of Turtle Candy and much more. Goodyear treated its employees and there families like gold.

The big Magnavox console played these wonderful albums. Sadly, the big stereo set is gone, but the warm memories are forever.

This is for all you radio stations who play Christmas music. There are way more than just the seven songs you play on a continuous loop

I’m young also. I remember my grandparents telling me about the spirit of old Christmas music. They are right. I listen to the music they listened to.
