Thailand is NOT for everyone BUT it's for me! I'm in PHUKET and I'm very grateful to be here.

Enjoy your video. I am a Thai leaving in the US for 37 years now (since 17). I recently went to visit family in Thailand and I think I am moving back within 3 years.

I'm nearly 40, and I recently realized that I don't want this life. I don't want a big house, I don't want a fancy car or lots of expensive jewelry or clothes.

I just want to live a simple life but even living a simple life here means I have to spend half of my life working just to keep my head above water and I don't want to spend my whole life working all the time.

I just want to spend time with people, I want to learn to surf, and I want to go diving and visit the beach or waterfalls at the weekends.

I've given myself two years to save, and then I'm going to spend 3 months in 4 different countries around South East Asia to see what it's like and decide where I would want to live.

I want out, and I'm finally doing something about it.

Welcome to Thailand. So many peoples living in Thailand after they retired. First times when moved in hot weather it's many obstacles. But when they get use to it then said Thailand is paradise. Thanks, for loved our country.

As the native says "Thailand have three seasons. Hot, very hot and SO FRICKIN HOT"(ร้อน - ร้อนมาก - ร้อนชิบหาย)

The weather in this country is definitely not warm brother it's annoyingly hot all year around hahaha, but I appreciate that you like it and make it sounds nice.

I really love the vibe of your videos. They feel genuine but not too serious.

You just revealed the ultimate pull-up spot in Benjakiti ;) Love this parc, there's quite a bunch of water monitor around, especially during raining season. Quite cool to encounter as a westerner.

Really great video George. Well put together and you're exactly right there are downsides too. A friend of mine is involved in a Thai temple retreat in Kalasin. Once I've received more details I'll forward them to you. Keep up the excellent work. 🇹🇭🌞

Great Vlog… As I approach retirement I am looking at several different countries… And I am also worried about not seeing family and friends…. But since moving to Florida from Indiana I have only had 2 friends visit me in 6years, and none of my family have even been here for a visit… So moving out of the country is going to be easier I feel… Great job pointing out things that everyone should consider…

Well done, George! You’ve discovered some of the most important aspects of living in Thailand, despite living here only a few years. You’ve also encapsulated the miserable life in the UK (which has become an authoritarian, police/judicial/bureaucratic state). There are some important details that you’ve overlooked, however. I help people to settle or retire in Thailand and avoid the real dangers (some of which may be not necessarily inevitable, of course).

But perhaps most important is to learn Thai. This also isn’t necessary, but many people who become disillusioned with Thailand (and/or their Thai partners) is often because they live in a kind of isolating expat bubble. And to learn Thai effectively, you must start with getting literate - otherwise you are unlikely to be understood when you speak, and you will give up in frustration after a year or so (which then feeds into a downward spiral). It’s more important than most people realize, which is why I bang on about it so! 😂

To eventually evolve into a state where you no longer stink in the tropics, bathe, shampoo and brush teeth with baking soda. Not only is it healthier for your skin, hair and teeth, it preserves your surface beneficial microbes which neutralises the culprit (bad microbes) responsible for odours.

Great video George. A very balanced reflection on your decision which as someone making the same decision now is really helpful to hear. Thank you for sharing🤜🤛

I'm from India and I'm definitely going to move to Thailand in the future. Still, before doing that I'll 100% make sure that my parents are going to live a pretty comfortable life and not gonna have any issues cuz otherwise, I'll not be able to live peacefully which is obviously not something that I want...So, yeah it's gonna take some time to get there but it's definitely gonna worth it.
