Loneliness is not about distance, it's about time. You can be in the middle of New York, surrounded by people, and be lonely and alone your whole life.

Loneliness and isolation are very different. I know he says from the outset he's talking about isolation, but I wish he would've titled it that way then. Some people can be isolated and not feel lonely at all. You can also be in a crowded room and be incredibly lonely. They're very different experiences.
