I live in a deep red state, and because of the electoral college, my vote for a Democratic presidential candidate has never been, and likely never will be a factor in national elections. All I'm really doing is just signing up for jury duty without any incentive. Eliminate the Electoral College and give the people back their voice. Without the popular vote enshrined as the national method, our country will never be a true democracy.

The people's vote don't matter the electoral votes override the people's votes
Your electoral votes come from State elected officials State party leaders and states that have a personal or political affiliation with their party's candidate that's who picks your president not you the people y'all better get educated little sheeple. The total number of electors is 538. Each state is assigned a number of electors equal to its two Senate seats plus the number of seats in the House of Representatives. Per the 23rd Amendment, the District of Columbia is allotted three electoral votes.

The Electoral College is not a physical place. It is a process which includes the:

Selection of electors
Meeting of electors who cast votes for the president and vice president
Counting of the electors' votes by Congress
In other U.S. elections, candidates are elected directly by popular vote. But the president and vice president are not elected directly by citizens. Instead, they are chosen through the Electoral College process.

The process of using electors comes from the Constitution. It was a compromise between a popular vote by citizens and a vote in Congress.

if smaller states have a voice or not, it should not matter, because collectively, the popular vote is shared by all the states combined with the final outcome. We dont need battleground states to nullify the popular vote. End the electoral college.

Small states' votes do matter but their popular vote is equal to all the popular vote of all states and thats how it should be. Who said large states' popular vote is really going to matter either since the electoral college gets the say anyway for all the states.
