The biggest mistake a lot of people make is falling for the dream that they were sold. First off you should absolutely NEVER quit your day job to start selling insurance because you don't know how it's going to play out for you I would advise any new agent that just got there license is to do it part time to see if it's a good fit for you or not. That way if you don't like the career you still have your job to fall back on. When I first started I did it part time for 3 days out of the week and worked my normal job still. After a while I figured out the business and got more comfortable with being able to make sales I was ready to do it full time. Also depending on the area you live in has a major impact on how you will be able to do in this industry. I live in Florida which is a pretty good state to sell life insurance because so many people move here towards retirement time in their lives. It won't happen over night but stick with it and you will see results

Thanks for the video. I sold Medicare Supplements in 2000 as a captive agent and almost lost the farm for the exact stuff that you mentioned. The biggest problem I experienced was the lack of leads and the lack of training. At that time we were using the voter registration list as a lead source. I was left to market and fend for myself. Luckily my charge backs were small and it only took me six months to realize what was happening and got out.

If leads were so good, they would not charge for them. Besides, newbies in a company get the crappies leads because that's all the are given or can afford. You're better off hitting the pavement and network on your own. Don't let them tell you that you're not good enough because the leads didn't pan out. The leads didn't pan out because they suck. Probably got a random printout of dial-up phone numbers...from a bogus kiosk sweepstake entry to win a car or some ticket priced item.

💯 this was me several years ago. I jumped head first in and within 6 months was out of the profession. I am starting back in now, but going at it as a side business. I'm a cop and have no plans to leave my profession. I realized after taking stock that I was good at selling, it was having the finances to get in front of people. So I'm hoping that I can make this a viable second income. Thanks for the great video!

Sadly, I know of several people who “went broke”. Built a big team, then the chargebacks came in, sometimes from people on his team he didn’t even know (downline Of a downline). One owed $40, 000 in chargebacks from his downline!! That scared the crap outta me. Never will build a team for life insurance, absolutely no way.

Hi Peter! Loved the video. It's nice to know that I am not the only one going through similar situations. I am currently in a position where I have spent more money and wasted time and have not had good leads. Paid $500! I'm sick and tired. The one sale I do have is still in underwriting. I wanted your advice. Should I wait for my commission to come in or bail now. By the way, I've already been through one life insurance company and now I'm currently selling Health. I need a work/life balance and I have not had any with these. I know you gotta be self disciplined and work hard but this has been crazy and ridiculous.

Im still living with parents, and im in life insurance since March not seeing results, and tired of convincing my hot/warm market are running out and no money for expensive leads. Barely making enough to pay for my own policies and omissions with other job.

The key in life insurance, just as any other business. You need capital to buy good leads or create your leads along with marketing to other professionals such as accountants. This takes time and a lot of grind. Unless you are in a system that can provide leads at a lower commission. Otherwise, good luck!
