Hey everyone it's me, vocal coach Mary Z! I'm a metal vocalist and a specialist in modern vocal techniques and extreme vocals as well. Let's take a look at everyone's favorite, Floor Jansen again in today's reaction! We hear her sing the song "Euphoria" on the tv show BesteZangers. Also today we break down exactly WHY she sounds so good?! What are the elements going into her tone and can we learn them also?

She had gall bladder removal a couple weeks earlier, 15 stones in there. Bestezangers contacted her and asked if she could send something in, she sent her voice and vids shot of her at her home studio out in back of her home. The music was live, but she wasn't, still Floor, overdoing it after surgery to get this sent out. She also just did 2 live virtual shows, she picked up her already strong game, even more to cover for no Marko being there, and killed it.

Her talent is not really her technical singing, she is among the best, don't get me wrong but her real talent is that she just plainly sing the song. She never steps infront of the song to make herself shine but she uses har conciderable talent to make the song shine.
I have such problems connecting to Dimash, Celine and the likes because they use the song the make themselves shine instead of letting the song speak through them.

She was at home. A crew of Beste Zangers went to her home to record this because of her surgery...

That's what I love about Floor. She has complete control, so every single thing she does musically is intentional. Combine that with her total understanding of how to make a song dramatic and how to tell a story, and she can turn almost any song into a colorful spectacle for the ear.

Her vocals were prerecorded at home, the band synced with her vocals. You can see the edits actually by watching her hair, she had the fan on and off during different takes and her hair goes from blowing wildly to perfectly still and back.

Floor was in Finland rehearsing for the coming virtual tour about 3 or 4 weeks ago and one morning she woke up with extreme stomach pains and so she was taken to a hospital there.
Eventually she found out her gallbladder had a considerable amount of large stones in it so she had surgery to remove it.
After the ordeal she went home and was asked for the honor of representing her country in the Beste Zangers Eurovision Competition and she accepted.
However, since she wasn't able to travel due to her surgery, the show came to her and she was able to perform this song.

Now, was it "live" at the time? I doubt it since there are many signs that point to certain clip changes and well... when you see her shoulder covered on one camera and then the cameras switch and suddenly her shoulder is uncovered?
Well, it's kind of obvious.
Don't know exactly how they managed to put the whole performance together, but it was as awesome as Floor could be nonetheless. ❤❤👍

Floor just had gall bladder removal and was under doctors orders not to fly. She sang this from her home studio. Somehow Beste Zangers synced it up. Great job. Beautiful job on your commentary and analysis Mary! Loved it!

YES!!! Another Floor fan from the After Forever years!!! AF is one of my favorite bands... I miss them. Think how it must feel to hear that Floor is going (or has) to cover your song... Excitement? Or dread that Floor will absolutely dominate and take ownership of her version... Hmmm...
