Newborn infant heart rate assessment skill for pediatric nursing. In this video, Nurse Sarah demonstrates how to assess an infant's heart rate, including tips for counting it.

In pediatric nursing, you'll be performing assessments on infants/newborns to assess proper growth and development.

To check the infant's heart rate, you'll want to use a stethoscope that is sized for an infant. In addition, you'll want to assess the heart rate at the apical pulse.

Be sure to listen to the heart rate for one full minute.
