Feeling nervous about holding a baby, especially a newborn, for the first time is understandable. Yet, babies aren't as fragile as they seem – though there are some important things to remember when getting ready to hold your baby. For a newborn, you'll want to provide good head and neck support. Your baby's head is the heaviest part of his body, and neck muscles aren't strong enough to help hold it up. You'll also want to pick up your baby correctly so as not to put unnecessary strain on your own body.

I just got home from being discharged finally and the only way I’ve held the baby is her being passed to me; I’m still scared of hurting her but now that I know the proper technique, I’m very excited for when she wakes up

Good tip I learnt for putting the baby down is to push down on the bed whilst sliding your hand out so the babies head won't tumble(?) off your hand

Actualy thank you. My baby girl was born today and all I could think of was "Be gentle, be gentle, be Making me realy anxious. She was lying on a blanket and I was trying to grab her with the blanket, but everytime i touched her, I was even more anxious, because I really don't wannt hurt her or discomfort her. This video have actualy told me nothing about How I should pick her up. It just showed me, not to be anxious about it. Damn.. I know I will feel the very same way tomorrow, but perhaps I'll remember this video and tell myself, it's not such a big deal..

I keep telling my mom that this is how she needs to pick up my baby but she keeps picking him up the wrong way. I'm gonna have to show her this video, so she could see that I'm I'm not just making stuff up like how she thinks I am. She knows how to hold him but she doesn't know how to pick him up and it's infuriating me at this point because I've told her time and time again. Sorry, rant over but thank you so much for this video.
