Hi Alex,
Hope you are well. Glad you're looking after Gracie. Perhaps re-gendering her may have something to do with the propshaft eating! 😂
To save you from spending time and money, the steering angle sensor causes the HDC fault. We first had trouble with it when we travelled back to Derbyshire in 2022. The HDC fault came on every 25 miles ( We live in Cornwall ). On arriving in Derbyshire we found, with the help of IIDTOOL ( best money ever spent if you own a LR ), the steering angle was -35°. After a quick read up, the problem is that the sensor spins on the steering shaft. Reset and no further problems, well until you turn the steering wheel again. 😂
You may want to look into the windscreen, especially around the bottom area of the driver's side. It could be the windscreen seal failing as the foot well used to get wet in torrential rain.
The cold start issue happens when it drops below -2°, and living in Derbyshire at the time was a problem. But the FBH is faultless and gets the engine nice and toasty in cold weather. Since we moved to a more warmer climate, she would start, like you say "on the button everytime".
The gash is on top of the driver's side lower arm where the drop link connects.
My shock of finding you paid £3000 for her was a bit more explicit! 😠 😡
You maybe wondering why none of these were fixed/ repaired. It's not that we didn't want to, she was a beauty and nothing would faze her, including towing a Buccaneer Barracuda caravan fully loaded across and up something resembling the Somme ( YNOT festival in 2019 in a typical Derbyshire summer 😅).
We were getting a new Kia EV6 in 2023, so it would have been silly to spend money when she was going.
Anyway, a bit long winded, but thanks for giving her a new life, and providing me with a new ringtone! The old one from The Goonies "hey youuu guys", is now "Oh shit, that is really bad!"
Oh, the rip on the centre console armrest was caused when we bought some fence posts and probably some of the scuffing on the dash was also done at the same time.

This is one of the best videos recently from you guys! It's nice to see you just casually chatting, no over-acting from Alex 😊. It's much better when you're all just hanging out and having real car talk and a bit of banter here and there!

At one point in time, that discovery was considered to be quite a decent higher end luxury suv. It’s great that it’s still seeing use now, albeit as a beater production car that endears its owners

That towbar alone is worth half of what the previous owner sold it for.

As a long standing on/off Landrover owner - From 2A to Disco 4 - I can confirm, they are very much a labour of love. When its right, nothing beats them. Fuel economy is amazing, mostly courtesy of either the AA or RAC

Former Disco 3 owner here. Best car we’ve ever owned, but the sense of immediate bankruptcy just got too much. Managed 3 years with it. Gearbox fault after 1hr of ownership and some other near misses (including one horrendous breakdown) meant the day it went was a happy day. Would I have another? Probably. 😂

I was travelling and working in a Nordic nation a few years ago and ended up chatting with some car mechanics. He explained the difference between Italian cars and Range Rover. In his opinion, both were unreliable, but with the Range Rover you never knew exactly what was going to brake next.

With Italian cars it was annoying faulty electrics (bad connections) and poor plastic parts.

Big Pete is a HSE in Tonga Green? with almond / tan interior? That's a really sweet combo in LR lore!!

I have had 3 Disco3, yes they have their issue's but all the problems are well know and can all be sorted by a good DIY mechanic, you definitely need to buy a good diagnostic tool. Once sorted where else can you get a vehicle with S class suspension, load space the size of a small transit, transport 7 people in comfort whilst towing 3.5 tonnes..simple answer is you cannot.

My dad had a Identical Discovery and he only sold it because the suspension airbags constantly gave us trouble by leaking air and it would lean on one side, it broke his heart have to sell it. Drove from Ireland to Spain twice in it and was such a comfortable car I kinda miss it myself.

Alex you don’t need to keep buying prop shafts you can Split them down the middle and change the bushing

Had a Discovery 2 TD5, 20 years old . Done a couple of small repairs myself, the biggest one
was the leaking sun roofs and liner . Everything worked, great condition and drove great as well.
The only issue was the fuel consumption, it was 17 miles per gallon ( the engine was re mapped
and given a power boost) . Lucky for me I sold it just before we had the crazy fuel price rise
And I got back what it cost me

It won't need glow plugs to start this time of year. It starting straight away doesn't necessarily mean it's had new glow plugs

My dad's Discovery 3 is such a hauler, it's been from Harwich to Gdansk twice whilst pulling a very heavy caravan.
And only last week we went to Stockholm with the Disco and the Caravan and only then the Suspension pump gave up and we drove home with
a slammed Land Drover.

Out of all the 200, 000 miles it has driven, that was the worst and it's sitting in the garden waiting to be fixed.
Our backup Porsche Cayenne is doing a good job.

Love these V2 videos!

Pretty sure Rory let me in infront of him on the M6 yesterday as I was on my way back from the VW Golf Mk1 owners club show in my Mk7 Golf R! It was either Rory or an absolute doppleganger!
