Favorite PURPLE ART SUPPLIES! Holbein, Paul Rubens, Derwent...

Hey Friends! I'm here to share with you today my favorite purple art supplies: this means colored pencils, watercolor, and gouache mainly. I will save ink and acrylic/oils for another video since they are hard to get to right now with my garage being rearranged. In the meantime, I'll chat about the color description and why I love them. Great purple video - I love the purple spectrum from pinks to deep rich purples. Re liquid watercolor and being lightfast - I believe Dr PH Martin’s Hydrus liquid watercolor is lightfast. I believe Schmincke’s offering is too.

loving the focus on purple here! It really is hard to choose a favorite out of all of these... But i cant get the 'Pansy' colored pencil out of my mind! i will look into those pencils sometime :)

Hello, happy new year. Fabulous, purple is my favourite colour. I find true purple pencils, watercolour paints including metallic hard to find. I prefer purple like your top towards the bluer end of the spectrum but they always edge more to the pink side for my taste. So I'm becoming a collector of purples. Thank you for sharing it's fun to learn new things :)

Purple (love the red violets way more than blue violets) is my favorite color and to see it as the first in the playlist is a great way to start the year. Any color close to jewel tones are my favorite. Debating getting the dr ph martins cyclamen because it's stunning. Also really dig moody purples like true amethyst or shadow violets. 💜

Hey Jane, I’ve watched this video 3X’s already while I’m ready in the morning. I’ve had a few early days . I just haven’t had the chance to leave you a comment yet. To let you know what I thought.

I’m so glad you included the neon colors by Paul Rubens. I am in awe of those!!!! A few colors I love that you didn’t mention are Holbein Luminous Violet, Holbein Luminous Rose Heavy Body Paint the intensity is dreamy!!!!

I also for some very odd reason love Goldens Heavy Body Acrylic in Light Violet, Medium Violet,

Then I like using Holbeins Acrylic Gouache Deep Magenta is really nice shade that I use a lot for flowers. Deep Violet is also nice. Magenta is a lighter berry shade if I don’t feel like wasting white to create my own shade. Lilac is another very light shade I’m drawn too. So is Pale Lavender. ( I actually purchased all of the pale shades because I found them so perfectly pale) Red Violet I used in a pansies piece I did for a friend. Rose Violet is more of the berry shade but it’s very pretty. You can’t go wrong with straight Violet!

In my Pan Pastels Magenta it looks like a dark berry in the cake it’s so pretty 😍!!!!

Pearlescent Violet is just so pretty too.

Violet and the lighter Violet Tint I really love both of those as well as the very deep Violet Shade.

I could go on but, I think that’s a good list maybe this year I’ll do my own video of my favorite things. Someday. XOXO 😘 💋

I love that dark plum color. I want something like that color, but in a watercolor or gouache single. Any suggestions, anyone?

LOVE THIS! I have a hard time finding a blue violet colored pencil. I would like it to be the shade of crayolas blue violet. I have purchased a few from all the professional lines but can't find exactly what I am looking for. Do you have any suggestions? Also the Paul Rueben neon water colors are amazing! I ordered a set after seeing them on your video. I use them in my sketchbook because I love the neon colors.
