Zachary Taylor - 12th U.S. President

Zachary Taylor was the 12th President of the United States, serving from March 1849 until his death in July 1850. Taylor was a career military officer and a hero of the Mexican-American War. Despite having limited political experience, he won the presidency as a member of the Whig Party. Taylor's presidency was marked by the country's territorial expansion and the controversy over the admission of California as a free state. Taylor died suddenly from an illness just 16 months into his presidency, and he is considered one of the shortest serving U.S. Presidents.
