Unfortunately, some mistakes are unavoidable. But the good news is that most are. In this video, I'm highlighting some of the most common mistakes I see that indie devs do when it comes to marketing their games.

The tips for those that are in a rush:
1. Not Using 1st Parties
> get in touch with Unreal, Unity, etc. any company that is in close ties with your game and ask for some support (ask in advance)

2. Not Having a Steam Page from the Start
> have it well before release for wishlists and more

3. Thinking About Marketing a Few Months Before Release
> think about marketing your game WAY before announcing it, you need at least 3 months to execute a campaign- it needs time

4. Releasing Marketing Activities with no Purpose and Goals
> make sure to have a call to action on your posts, have a goal when you post things

5. Releasing the Game in a Packed Window
> basically, don't release on HOT months (Summer Sales, when other large games are coming out, etc.)

Extra. Don't complain that Steam doesn't 'care' about Indie games on social media

A really great video, if you ever get the time, you should really watch the whole thing as there are some little things here and there that I didn't point out that's great info. Thanks for the info Michal, I'll be looking forward to seeing more videos!

I've checked your site... is your agency currently trading and/or taking on new indie clients??

I have a quick question for you, which is, would releasing a casual mobile game this year in early October be a bad idea? And how much of the info in this video carries over to mobile video games? As a small indie dev myself I really appreciate your advice, so keep up the good work!

As if #1 "not using 1st parties" wasn't what everyone is trying to do. Like 1st parties can just be "used", and easily.

Pozdrawiam :)

A really wonderful video. I loved your choice of games, music, pacing, message... Great work. I look forward to reading more from you. And if your goal is to position yourself as an expert.... it's working!!

Wow, amazing video! Level of sharing knowledge is equal as ASKgamedev or ExtraCredits but You need to improve your video making skill. I dont know why YT didn't add subtitles but anyway it would be cool to see every steps on the screen, You could add some interface elements to your videos. It's useful in many times, think about it.:) 5!

Ok, but some of those games looked really cool. What were they?

Those were good tips, but then you completely lost me talking down to anyone who complains about a genuine problem. As an example, Steam changing the algorithm really hurt Arcen's business. If there's a genuine problem then people _should_ complain about it rather than tough-talked into silence. I don't care of "they're a business, " that's no excuse for poor quality.
