They may sell it as “First Class” but it is really a business class product. First Class on domestic flights disappeared when 3 classes of service was done away with. They didn’t do away with business class, they did away with First Class.

What I am taking away from this is that, overall domestically, First Class today is what Economy was in the 90s.

I’ve flown first class once in the last 30 years. I enjoyed the larger seat and legroom, as well as the enhanced service, but the biggest thing was just how much more relaxed I was while flying. Much less stress than when crammed into regular economy. Well worth the extra 10K miles I paid on United at booking!

Loved the video- thanks!

I got upgraded to first class once. I was traveling with my father in law he lived in Tennessee. Each time the flight attendant offered him something he would ask how much is it, she would smile and say no charge sir. He did not drink alcohol but I convinced him to order a virgin tequilla sunrise. 😂😂😂😂 she even brought us both a deck of playing cards and wings (pins) they used to give. she gave him the royal treatment it was so cute.

53 year retired United Airlines employee here. The problem with meals is that the airlines farm out the catering to a 3rd party. Every station is different--there is no consistency across the system. Another commenter said first class is really business class. Actually it's like coach was in the 70s and 80s. After deregulation every airline's service went downhill. I've had decent food on international flights on United though. Hawaiian Airlines is the best IMHO.

If you were on Nord VPN, deactivate it first before trying to get into the airline wifi, then reactivate after you connect. That’s what I noticed with AA flights.

AA FA here. The reason your device wouldn’t connect to the entertainment is because your VPN was turned on. I’ll bet money you COULD connect to the Live TV, but the streaming wouldn’t load. Our system isn’t compatible with VPN’s. Also, be sure on an Apple product you’re using Safari and on an Android device you’re using Chrome. On an iPad using Chrome, the advertisements will play, but the following movie will not. It’s due to copyright encryption. Also….I’d love to have you on one of my flights someday. I’ll greet you at the door as you enter the airplane by name, I’d thank you for whatever status you have and write down a PDB preference if you want one. Anything at all from the galley, not just water or juice. Asking at the door is a game changer as far as speed of delivery is concerned. Don’t have to make multiple trips into the aisle asking PDB choices. The only problem sometimes is getting people to slow down and engage me for a few seconds because they’ve never seen it done that way before. LOL

If you fly First Class, everything should be included: lounge, PBD, Wi-Fi, etc without the nickle-and-dime charges. Also service should be consistent across the same airline in the same class. AA struggles with consistency: I flew AA biz class LAX-ORD and there was no PDB but JFK-LAX did have PDB.

All the US carriers are way behind overseas carriers re: first and biz class.

As a flight attendant, who often works first, I try to always offer a PDB, but there is exceptions, such as if we are reboarding, but that time is less than 5 minutes from original drink, or, if we haven’t been catered, and it’s close to door closure. It doesn’t happen often, and I take tremendous pride in delivering the best service possible.

Having flown first class for most of my life I have learned that the best thing to do is book a coach seat and when you're in the airport get the most expensive takeout gourmet meal and a bottle of wine and sit in your coach seat and eat it. It's a lot less expensive like about five or seven hundred dollars and it's much more enjoyable. Bob L

I feel like not having a built in IFE screen in first class is criminal! Great video as always. Domestic first class is so different from international

Delta 2 Million Miler here. I always appreciate the PDB. When you fly a lot, it starts the trip nicely, and can often be a nice way to “cheers” with the person who is traveling next to you.

PDB's should be offered to first class passengers. The reason they are not served is because FA's are not paid until the boarding door closes. US airlines should be ashamed.

The fact that wi-fi is not included in your price for first class seats is appalling.

A traveling tip is if you book economy first and then you can possible upgrade for less than half the price of the first class ticket. It’s iffy depending on how fast the flight is booked

No lounge; no real priority; no WiFi, no lie-flat; very little extra room; bad food. What a waste of money

Hello Jeb, you both are probably some of the best flight reviewers out there. Your videos aren't just full of key information one might need but also extremely therapeutic! I have been your ardent fan for years and always keep an eye out for your next video. Keep up the great work! :)

For frequent flyers PBD is appreciated. I am speaking for me. I boarded the plane from DC area back to CA and it was honestly the first break I got all day. I did that on a weekly basis. Being able to relax, in first class or business, and get some appreciation was what kept me on the same airline for 30 years. I know this comment will not be popular for vacation travelers but for those of us who flew weekly, and were recognized by the FA on boarding staff who made us a priority, these minor perks go a long way.

I remember flying on a Domestic Lufthansa business class flight from Munich to Prague a year ago. That was a one hour flight. We were served lunch and dessert. The level of service outside the U.S. is head and shoulders above U.S. Domestic airline flights. That being said, its good anytime you see airlines trying to up their game. I will say this though. The flight attendants and their attention or lack thereof can make or break a flight for me. I've had some really crappy flights in terms of the seating, IFE, etc. Yet the FA's service and attentiveness made the flight a great one.
