I purchased my 2016 kia soul 2.0L new in October 2016. Now owned it almost 8 years. This I can share with you in my 8 years and 95k miles. It's used oil since day one. Using 5w20 it would use 16 oz of oil every 1200 miles about. Always have to top it off. I had a oil consumption test done. Took it back in 1000 miles of driving, they explained to me at the dealer it needs to use 1 qt or more in 1000 miles or less in order for Kia to cover a new short block. They switched it to using 5w30. It now uses 12 oz of oil every 1600 miles. I had my starter replaced at 80, 000 miles about 2 years ago. It has done the engine loss of power, hiccups spits sputters and blew smoke out on me about 3 times now over the years. Changed plugs once around 75K miles, changed trans fluid at 60K. Other than tires and brake pads and rotors, it's always been pretty dependable and reliable. I still own it to this day. I failed to mention, my rooftop track was replaced about 5 years ago due to it wouldn't close. That was under full warranty. Now the clearcoat is coming off my door handles, mirrors, and rear spoiler. As for the oil consumption, I've came to the conclusion that's due to poor intake design from kia in which allows the vacuum to pull the oil from thru the PVC valve, and sucks it right into the intake valves and it carbons the valves up. So about every 15K miles I'll do a intake cleaner before changing my oil. Hope this helps. Thanks for reading. Any questions, feel free to ask.

I bought my 2016 Kia Soul at 68, 000 miles. I’ve had it for 3 years now and am at 150, 000 miles. I just started having issues losing horsepower with increased rpm’s on inclines. Gas mileage has gone up by almost half. I’m going to have to get it towed to a shop as I almost didn’t make it home from work today.😢

I bought mine brand new back in 2016. It’s at 139, 000 miles. It uses oil. I’m going to try to switch it to 5w30. I have to replace the catalytic converter this weekend.

Purchased my 2016 kia soul in 2016. At 65k it started burning oil. Last oil changed mid September 2024. Drove less than 400 miles, October 23rd car needed 2 quarts of oil. This is unacceptable. Had to leave car at dealership to run tests. I will not recommend this car.
