Would you ever consider reading a book from William T. Vollmann?

He writes massive novels and non-ficiton works that usually involve American history and his novel Europe Central won the National Book Award in 2005.

Oh, boy! A few days ago, in fact, I breezed through a novella entitled 'Gadsby' by Ernest Vincent Wright. The cover is literally the word "Gadsby" in white against a light green-blue background.

Have you ever read Ryu Murakami?
I did read Almost Transparent Blue, but since in italian it was never reprinted it was very hard to find. I loved his writing... check it out!

Have you ever read Maus? It is my favorite stand alone graphic novel of all time! It is also one of my favorite memoirs PERIOD. I don't care if it is a graphic novel, it truly rivals books like "Angela's Ashes" and "The Glass Castle" as my favorite memoir. I think you would really like it!

I read this children's book called
east of the sun and west of the moon
it's this compilation of traditional Norwegian art and folklore popularized in the 1890s and it's FUCKING SCARY
I don't know why someone would call it children's lit, there were little girls getting married to bears and bad kids being traded for safety from monsters....but would recommend the art is beautiful

So glad I found your channel! This is so entertaining! My favorite category is Best Book That Is Not Actually A Book Because It Has Dice. XD

Harold and the Purple Crayon is not just the best children's book I have ever read (coming just ahead of Where the Wild Things Are), but one of the best books I have ever read, period. It's utterly phenomenal.
Goodnight Moon is one of those books you have to grow up on to appreciate. The movie Home Alone is like that. Everyone I know who grew up with that movie loves it death. I watched it for the first time when I was 20, and I think it's incredibly childish and dumb. Same with the Muppets.

Hey bookchemist! I always have to start out by saying my grammar and punctuation is not so good and that your videos are simply awesome. seriously, I don't respect anyone's opinion on books here on YouTube more than yours. that said, I wanted to ask if you have any tips on how someone who isn't studying literature in university, learn to better understand and appreciate these big concepts that authors try to convey in their work. how to understand what is most important in the text is difficult for me so any advice would be great.
also do you annotate anything or everything you read, highlight, anything? Thanks!

How many pages does your edition of Purity have? 'Cause I red a paperback edition of that book and it was relatively small, while yours is huge, and now I'm scared I red a fucking summarized version.
PS: good video, man!

I've read Watchmen a couple of years ago and was completely dumbfounded. Watchmen is truly the holy grail of comic books in my opinion. Every aspect from the simple plot, complex characters, and detailed drawings made Watchmen a living monument of the depth of the stories a graphic novel can tell. If you liked the Watchmen everything else by Alan Moore (Batman: The Killing Joke and V For Vendetta) are also just as good.

You should review the Dark Knight Returns bu Frank Miller. it's the only graphic novel that I could confidently say is better than Watchmen.

I also read Watchmen this year and really enjoyed it. I think it is a rather poignant work to read in a time that seems so dominated by superhero franchises wherever you look at. I enjoyed Moore's characterization of his "superheros", so defined by their petty human egos and needs that can barely be identified as such. Also it is curious that in a world where superheroes are real, kids choose to read comics about pirates.
I already felt that Ready Player One was a bad 80s movie so I can't imagine how worse Armada can be.

Other than that, this video was really funny XD
