☁ ABOUT ME ☁

Hello and welcome! The goal of my channel is to influence you to use the makeup you have and to buy intentionally. I love reviewing new makeup, but even more than that I love finding creative ways to use up the makeup I have and maintaining a curated collection that inspires me. Subscribe for low-buy inspiration, project pans, shop my stash, reviews & more!

☁ ETHICS ☁

There are many considerations when it comes to shopping as ethically as possible. While it's very difficult to know whether any given brand is 100% ethical, I take several factors into account, including social justice, sustainability, and human & animal rights. Here are some of my favorite resources for researching brands:

I definitely notice the shift in YouTube from drugstore focused to more high end/luxury focused makeup. I just really miss the days when everyone just made vids for the love of makeup. Now it's so consumerism driven. It's buy, buy, buy all the new all the time. Another thing that gets old is when certain specific brands release a new product, EVERYONE and their mother's mother reviews it. I know for me I've started watching more YouTubers who focus on using what you have/panning and aren't 100% focused new releases.

I honestly believe that this year is going to be the year that Project pans and No buy/low buys are gonna take off. I’d like to see that happen and see people enjoying the makeup they have. Not sure if that’s relevant to this video or not🤷🏻‍♀️ but that’s something I would like to see happen.

I sincerely miss "Whats in my bag", "Get ready with me", "Monthly Favourites", and "Room/House Tour" videos. It seems like a lot of more editorial magazines have overtaken these trends (Architectural Digest, Vogue, even GQ's 10 things I can't live without videos). Proving there's definitely a demand for them, so I can't really understand why influencers don't hop back on that bandwagon... 😅Give the people what they want!!

Also I'm of any video to do with a Colourpop launch. TBH anything to do with that company now just makes me roll my eyes.

Personally, I will always love a BYOP. 🙌🏻💜 My singles are the backbone of my collection, and I could not love them more. I basically have every shade I need, and I build new custom palettes when I "shop my stash" every month, so they always feel fresh and are regularly getting used.

Since it's something you'd like to see more of on YouTube, would you ever consider building small custom palettes when you shop your stash, as well? I can't wait to build my Valentine's one!! 🥰🌷

As an oily skin person, I can confirm that it’s been a little challenging to find base products the past few years 😅 I personally like a satin/skin-like finish.

The thing about drugstore makeup too is that brands like elf, undone beauty, essence, etc. are not available on drugstores in other countries, so it is less “relatable” to South Americans (like me), for example. You can still get some of those products if you dig online, but it’s way more difficult. So that’s why I think high end became so popular on tiktok and stuff. Because, if I really like a high end product, I can basically get it at sephora in any country.

No way! That is so cool that ColourPop is doing free refills!! I've never heard of a brand doing anything like that before. Good for them! I love to see it. 👏🏻👏🏻

I’ve watched YouTube for like 10 years now… when I’ve started working I’ve started to buy so much makeup because of YouTube and then in 2022 I discovered project panning. I’ve always dreamed buying all the makeup out there but now when I watch videos when creators shows off tons of makeup or make declutter when they toss nothing I feel bad for them. I just want to see creators that care about their collection instead of always buying what’s new.

I think that Angelica Nyqvist is doing a great job at mixing new releases reviews and videos with old products. She does amazing colourful eyelooks and she talks about various beauty topics. I really enjoy her! I love Lauren Mae Beauty too, she creates beautiful byop with hers singles and it's really a pleasure to listen to her. I follow many projects panners, for me is fun to do different types of themed projects like deck of panning or pan that palette and I learn new techniques and combo colours from them!
I saw the shift to high end products too, for me one of the reasons is that drugstore makeup is almost expensive as high end without the same quality. In Italy I can think of only about 3/4 brands that are not expensive and have decent quality but I have to buy them online... the others are increased their prices so much! And I buy high end only on sale so I spend almost the same that if I buy a L'Oreal lipstick or a NYX palette at full price 🤷🏼‍♀️

Last night Zabrena posted a video where she went through four purses that she hadn't used in ages and showed what was in them. It was refreshing to watch because it was so different and relatable.

I was surprised when everyone started buying Charlotte Tilbury. It's not that the people I watch didn't have more expensive products, but suddenly everyone was talking about the brand. Same with Natasha Denona. Both have price tags that are beyond the amount I want to spend on makeup, so yeah, I do miss seeing more of a focus on drugstore brands.

I completely agree! I miss tutorials so much! And I miss colour! A lot of channels I watch used to do fun colourful looks and now they stick to barely there neutral looks.
Another thing I'd love to see more of on Youtube is creators using high end brands that barely get talked about (Estee Lauder, Clinique, Lancome, Smashbox). Not saying for this channel since a lot of those brands are not cruelty free.

The trend I would love to see is the boycott of all trends. Lol. Like you said, why does it have to be one or the other? We have such a wide range of choices and preferences why is there a need to do as others do? Who sets the trends? How much money do they make from them? I prefer variety, true individualism and creativity. That's why I like your channel. You're a little out of the box and I appreciate that. Have a wonderful day!

The thing I miss most is the makeup swap! Those were so fun!

Allie Glines will do things like "Valentine's Day Tutorial" and I think she still gets a lot of views on those! I am more likely to watch those videos of hers than her reviews.

You could honestly call a Valentine's Day tutorial "Valentine's date night GRWM" and it would so very well and still in essence be a tutorial.
I miss the days where your favourite creators would visit each other, browse each other's make-up bags and get ready together. 🥺

I think part of the shift from drugstore to high end or luxury makeup has to do with the age of YouTube creators and YouTube viewers. 10ish years ago a lot of the popular creators were teenagers or in their early twenties with not much disposable income. (Similar to how a lot of TikTok viewers are stereotypically Gen Z, which could factor in to why drugstore makeup is more popular there.) As people get closer to 30 and older, people in positions of privilege likely have a lot more disposable income to spend on makeup, especially those in a double income no kids scenario. I know personally when I was a teenager or in college there was no way I could shop at Sephora. When I was lucky enough to get a fairly high paying job after college I was so excited to be able to afford high end makeup that I purchased way more in that price range. Now that I’m getting even older, I’m much more about just finding what’s best for me instead of automatically assuming high end is better just because of its status symbol. Just something I was reflecting on when watching your video. I think there are definitely a lot of factors that go into what is trending or what we see on social media.

I love building your own palette videos! I also love tag videos and non-brand makeup tutorials. Totally agree!!

I am so about drugstore makeup.. I think high end is ok for a splurge item, but really not necessary. I love tutorials and just sit down and put the makeup on videos. New makeup is great, but honestly who can really afford every new release, much less who wants every release. I prefer balance. Your channel is a perfect balance.

in relation to the tutorials portion, I watch video from creators I like... it doesnt matter the content. as simple as that. I only do not watch videos that goes against a belief like Amazon video, or Shein, and so on. Everything else is game at my end. So I agree, do not blame the customer your products dont sell 💅 💅

I would enjoy seeing beautubers do tutorials on their old products and discuss available dupes. Like crack out your naked palette, show how you've used it over the years, and discuss dupes for shades you already have in your collection and ones available right now at the drugstore.
